Strange Shafts

Just bought a set of shafts off ebay which were advertised as Nova Gte 22spline shafts.
Counted the outer splines and theres 28,counted the inner splines and there are 25 on both the long and short shaft:wtf:
I thought all Novas were 28splined both ends except for Gte's:confused:
In which case wtf are these from?!:mad:

Andy they could be the later GSI shafts as i dont think that all GSI's had the the 22 spine shafts some did some didnt.

It was GTe's that had the 22 splines, only some GSi's had them. TDi's also used them as well iirc.

Well i had a search through the internet and think they are conversion shafts as someone else said they had a set that had 28 outer and 25 inner

Just checked a Calibra 2.0 8v shaft and that has 25 inner splines so i guess its any big block inner Cv's then.............

They're definitely the right length to fit a Nova?

Well ive put it next to a nova shaft with cv's attached and it looked about the same,what else could they be off??

Just quickly whipped my cv's off my standard small shaft and the small "conversion shaft" is 10mm shy of the standard item???

10mm shorter? :confused: There's nothing with a smaller track than a nova afaik... assuming it's a vauxhall shaft obviously

The standard item is 334mm,the "conversion one" is 324mm and much fatter,the outer spline is identical to the standard item,28 splines

Any vauxhall part numbers on shaft or cv?

Cant see any,where are they normally?
Would 10mm make a difference?

If the inner CV designed to fit the 'conversion' shaft you have is 10mm fatter than a standard Nova one, that would explain it. I bet the longer shaft is 10mm shorter too.

they sound like tapered shafts nova outer cv with big block inner cvs i have a long one in the garage somewere

some conversion shafts have a distance ring between the cv-joint and the wheel bearing i think thats 10mm
