Who has what and why?

I have a V6 and I love it for the Torque but it seems a less common swap.

I love it though :thumb:

1.2i

No problems what so ever - Gets up to motorway speeds, relaible, good MPG and gets to the same place at the exact same time as the p*ick in front who over took you with 10x more power :)

Just my opinion

Turbo,

Got it cause it seemed like the next upgrade after a few years of Xes.
And the sound cool and go quite well.

Waiting for them to warm up sucks tho.

1.6 16v on throttle boddies, had xe's and others not a turbo tho.

chosen this route as its not quite as common, its pokey for a 1600 and handles better than having a bigblock hanging over rhe front.

1.6 8v gte engine.

Why? because im looking for some nice simple fix motoring this summer. Track days, 1/4 thrashing and general nice day B road blasts.
I dont want to just chuck in an xe or let as i fear i would get bored easy. I will upgrade every winter when its off the road :)

Saab 3.0V6.

Found the XE to be slow, and lets face it LETs are far too expensive for the same (well slightly less :d) power than the V6. The car is a mileage muncher so handling isn't a problem, plus I like the way the 6cyl engine drives over a 4cyl. I'd never have another 4cyl Nova.

should be the LET conversion tag line lol

i have a 1600 8v on carbs naerly ready to go in for this year, hopefully (money dependant) will have a 1800 small block ready to go in over winter

if i had another daily driver nova or good clean example id have a LET tho

1600 8v because it's cheap and anything is better than a 1.2i lol Not sure on what comes next, atm the shell is my main focus, but I'd like a turbo lump later, just not a big block.

Around here the VTECH brigade are pish lol have fun beating them in the V6 on a regular basis. Mate bought a TYPE R Civic 54 plate and I was ashamed at how slow it was. I have come up with the term Jap slapping lol. Although I did try it on with a Skyline GTR the other day and it killed me lol

have a phase 3 let now as got bored with the xes power and to get more than i had out of the xe would of cost a fortune, was already running cams sbd manifold and 48s and made 196bhp with selling the old lump and bits i acutaly made more back than the let with all phase 3 kit cost and it had just been rebuilt an extra 100bhp for nothing

ah man no ep type r's over here, too slow its all ek9 type ones. and all are running integra b18's, most are well over 200 bhp. one the lads had one he got a 13.3 qtr on a fully trimmed road car! trahsed my old xe

b18b is a nice engine, but you can beat it with an XE nova.

mine is c20xe (cammed, chipped).

it's cheap to build and goes well.

X16SZR. Why? It's the most I can insure being 17. It's not that bad, it got 79.91bhp at the fly on the rollers, which isn't bad for 75bhp book figure and 138k miles. It's an easy engine to drive with, max torque is at about 2.5k revs and it pretty much holds that torque right to the limiter. It is just a bit slow though, staying at 70mph on any kind of hill is usually a flat out affair, sometimes dropping to 4th or even 3rd on the steep ones!

However, hopefully by Saturday it will be running on C16SE inlet and management for a fair bit more power :)

Supercharged LET tall engine with TB's

Love big block Novas, hate LET lag. Also I have mental health issues

I also have a Z20LET AstraG coupe which makes for a great all-round daily driver

lads around here put serious work into them, all run 4.9 fd aswell, very hard to catch even with a cr f16!

i like the honda engines. torque is sh!t, vtec is sh!t but feck me, those thing handle boost on a stock engine perfect.
