i have built a c16xe corsa gsi engine to a decent spec...forged internals, big turbo stand alone ecu etc etc... i'm looking for a gearbox to handle the extra power from turboing as the f15 just isnt upto the job. does enyone no whats involved in fitting the f20 box to my c16xe. my idea was to put the stronger f20 box on with a straight cut gear kit. if this isnt that straight forward does enyone have any better ideas???

Tbh I'd see what an F13/15 can take. I have found them quite striong on my smallblock turbos' Not the power you will have by the sounds of it, but I've not even had a whine from mine. My F13 got a lot of abuse on my 8v turbo.

Edit, to use an F20 you will need a flywheel with the same bolt pattern as your 1600 crank that will take the larger clutch. An 1800 8v one iirc.

there is a 1.6 16v running a F28, but i cant find any info on it

There was an 1.6 8v turbo FS on here (in bits) & theres one in finland on an F28.

i foned quaife and they sed with the power i'm running the wont guarantee a gearkit at the cost of 1600 quid.

what does iirc mean??

If you're going to fit an SC gear kit to the F20, why dont you just fit the stronger internals to an F16? You're going to struggle like hell to find a used F20 SCCR with the correct ratio's for a turbo, so you would probably have to buy new anyway?

i'm up for buying it ne lee av spent a fortune on this engine and dont want to be pullin boxes out and in every few months. is the f16 any easyer to fit than the f20 or just the same??

Its good stuff. Theres 1 or 2 (prolly more)_ LET turbo boys running F20's with the SCCR kits OK. Likewise the ATB diffs have no issues.

Any pics/spec on your engine? I have a Coutenay 1.6XE turbo in my Nova (well its out now)

i have sum picks of the engine build and my shell nuthing to interesting just now as it hasnt been painted yet. i've just about got everything apart from clutch, flywheel, and gearbox as i'm unsure. getting abit sick of tripping over parts i must have around 10k worth of stuff lol

I have a brand new Quaife SCCR gearset for sale and LSD

Stuart

Quaiffe wont warranty the gearset on a turbo engine as the kit isnt rated that high in terms of the torque it will take (the gear teeth are smaller than that on the ehlical boxes so cant take the same loading)

The F15box is probably a good bet right now as you cans till find fairly "new" ones, the ratios are great and they are cheaps... If you kill more than two then yeah go ahead with the faff of fitting an F20 but chances are the newest F20 you will get will have been round the world and be a bit iffy anyway

Don't waste your time with the F15, just fit the F20 and be done with it.

I agree about the Quaife although to be fair motorsport parts warranty is a waste of time anyway

There is always the F23.... but that will need a hyro clutch and cable shift
