I was telling Edd this afternoon how great the roads are in Wales, its well known, but having never driven around them before (I'm poorly travelled) I went with some mates for a camping jolly for 4 days. We had no idea where we were going, only that we wanted to find some good roads & maybe camp for a night. We ended up camping for 3 nights in Betws y coed & jouneyed out from there every day. It seemed pretty sensible & worked well.

Anyway a few pics of some scenery etc.

Cars were an Ibiza Cupra 1.8T & a haevily modded Corrado G60.

The circular (triangular actually) B-road route around Snowdonia has some amazing twists & undulations on it. Every evening as we headed back to Betws (Betsy), we would finish with some awesome new road.

My fave (from the passenger seat) was the road through Beddgelert. It seemed awesome. The whole time I just wanted to be in my Nova hearing the turbo echo off all the stone walls.

LOL. Evo triangle. I used to read Evo but the road names would never last long in my memory.
When I got home it felt like I live in a concrete jungle compared to being in mid wales for 4 days. For the record, where I live in largely rural & agricultural.

Evo triangle is awesome, Did you see many evos around as the gayers had a run out over that way on the 27th.

Wales holds some very very very good and well hidden roads :D Me and chris used to blast over there loads and loads have a few hours on single track roads then head home :D

We took in a lot of roads tbh. Many un photographed.
On the saturday coming home, we zig zagged accross to Aberystwyth, then to the Brecons & came home through chepstow & wye valley & accross the severn bridge.

Without a map to hand, theres too much to remember.

I'd like to go up there in the GT4. One of my ex's used to have some friends that lived in Pembrokeshire (apparently on the side of a mountain) at a place called Maenclochog whom we visited a few times. Some great roads round there, although said ex used to hate driving on them as she was too scared about oncoming traffic etc. To be fair though her clapped-out heap of junk polo was sh!t for driving on those roads.

I wish I took more pics tbh, though stopping half way along a nice road for a measely pic wasnt going to happen. I only remember some of the roads & other guys I went with remember others.

I was just over at my mates place who owns the Corrado. We ran back over the route on the map. I'm a bit clearer now.

For the record we covered 720 miles (in the Cupra) in the 4 days. Consumption was 39mpg iirc, bit lower in the Corrado but the owner does get poorish economy & was chuffed with a 34mpg average.

Anyone know the stretch of road heading towards Anglesey with the tunnels on it?
