^^^^^^^^^^(not my car btw lol)
As it will be probably coming off the road when my insurance runs out for work that is needing to get done on it soon.
Anyways, my question is how would you go about in declaring it on the logbook and insurance etc,
Also the engine will be getting changed in it so how do you declare that (school boy question i know but meh :p )

Taa in advance

i believe to be fully legal it will require an sva check as its a chassis modification?

How would that work lol would it be similar to a vic check?
i dont know anything about things like that

Extensive modification to the monocoque, so will more than likely require a Q plate.

Mm. But think about how many pickup conversions have been done on here. How many of them are Q plates? lol

Connor

Yea was thinking that lol
i remember that f reg green/flip painted one on ebay a while back
which sparked these crazy thoughts.

Think i will have to do a bit of research before i get the grinder out :d

Dont do Q plates anymore?

It would just need a SVA test keeping the original plate from what i understand.

Best thing to do to a more door loon imo.

Legally you will need the car SVA'd but there's plenty about that obviously haven't been through one but then again I'm not sure how many I've seen that aren't unfinished projects.

This. (to be 100% legit) Pompy have more points than you would get in an IVA test too. lol

TBH though, build it strong and tidy enough and there's no reason for that to flag up. It's only likely if the MOT tester considers it dangerous or you get caught in a VOSA stop-check.

when i did my i went and asked at a MOT garage and they said it was not a chassis mod so therefore only needed MOTing as normal. as for insurance good luck, i had great fun explaining my estate conversion to the insurance and it put it up by £500 !!!

burgo

i assume you are aware the 4 doors are alot harder to do due to not having the proper B pillar

corsa shells are alot cheaper and if it goes wrong and you end up scraping it you havent scraped another car which is now getting few and far between

Connor
28-03-10, 03:43 PM
meh its a 4dr loon shell, it wont be for a while but it is definitely a good possibility, i even told my mum about it she was like:
Mum- 'so let me get this straight, you wanna chop your perfectly working car, to make a pickup out of it'
Me- 'well yea thats the plan'
Mum- 'well your mad but if you want to do it i am not going to be able to stop you" :d
Its not the most desirable, if i funk it up, i funk it up
dont think me or anyone on here will lose any sleep over it lol

Connor
28-03-10, 03:44 PM
saying that i will probably go to sleep and wake up thinking it was the most stupidest thing i have ever though of! lol

Technically it is, as the nova has a monocoque not a separate chassis/body. The DVLA have recently tried to clear up the rules regarding modifications to the chassis/monocoque for Q plating etc, but it would be fair to say your MOT man probably wasn't aware of this. Most aren't lol

I'd imagine some sheet steel intended body repair and some cold drawn tube for a roll bar if it was to have one
