Our region of the VxlSCC had a rolling road meeting at Northampton Motorsport today. I thought id see what the GSi was putting out so when the new engines in I have something to compare it with.
Bearing in mind the engine is standard bar a K+N filter and done 134,000 miles I was pretty chuffed

Your really starting to annoy me :!: :o

You find a superb GSi for very good money, source a set of wheels, lower it, already got a spare block being stripped ready to go in, then fit some awesome brakes now you get a good result on the rolling road.

GGGGRRRRRRRRRRRR :x

No good on you :!: (still annoying though as my car wont even run)

Probably annoy you that I picked up a second hand fast road Piper cam that had done 200 miles for some peanuts today then.

very good for millage, im suprised at how much you lost through the gearbox though, its normally only about 24-25bhp lost thorough the transmission

This is what a few friends in the know have also said. Thats 30% lost through a FWD transmission whhen its usually 15-20% max. In theory I should be looking at 80 bhp at the wheels.

The power run cost ?25. But this was arranged as a group discount for our club.

Nice one Ross.

What plans do you have for the engine, or is it all top secret? ;)

E16SE 4 cyl 1.6 injection Nova GSi engine.

Gas flowed and ported cylinder head head.
Waisted valves with five angle seats and trimmed bronze valve guides.
Piper fast road spec camshaft
Lightened and balanced crank, rods, flywheel and uprated clutch.
Baffled sump
High pressure oil pump
Uprated big end and main bearing bolts.
FSE Valve
C20XE injectors (Not sure if required yet, when run in will rolling road to find out).
K+N induction kit
Four branch manifold and performance exhaust system. (Not 100% made my mind up which ones yet though, possibly mixture of Lexmaul and Bastuck depending on wallet)

Currently the headwork etc is done. The block has been prepped. The internals will be going away to be lightened and balanced when the clutch kit arrives.

Various bits on standby awaiting cash availibility, which shouldnt be long.

Cant wait.
