Hi all

as I pulled up to work to park my Nova cut out, its not done it before, it starts fine but just wont idle at all.

I have a hour at lunch to sort it with limited tools,

What should I check first?

To park you have to go over a large bump, could a pipe been knocked off?

most possibly a vacuum pipe. check for air leaks

Is it standard carb, other carb, or fuel injection on your car?

Standard carb on a 1.4SR, Pitsberg I think

No pipes have came off and no air leaks I could find

Ive put the idle up to about 1500 and it seems warmed it up and went around the block, its idleing so I can get home tonight.

I think it may be related to I have a slight sticky value, or so thats what ive been told but I thought I had fixed it, My car wont start after I have driven it for a short time and it hasnt fully warmed up, I leave it for about 30minutes and it works fine.

Checked all the plugs and one is abit red but the other 3 are ok.

I was adviced to put part diesel oil in or 30/5 Full synthetic oil which I did and the problem has only happened once in the last 3months and before was happening every short drive.

Put 30/5 Full synthetic oil in again for 1000miles and see if it helps

Any advice?

What make of carb would you recommend and any info about fitting to my car would be great, My budget would be £50 - £150 all parts ready to fit so a second hand carb would be likly.

If you can find another pierburg 2e3 carb to try on yours then do that as i had the same, car would fire up and drive fine but cut out as soon as you let off the throttle, carb was at fault:thumb:
