Aye Burgo. Plenty more where that came from though. it's the first full car I've seen on eBay. Given how few were built they do seem to come up for sale a fair amount (not just Vaux)

IIRC Matt the STW cars were more like £1.5m each.

I've always thought they'd make an awesome hill climb car but I bet you'd need to set aside about £50K per year for parts and servicing - once the little pile ran out. lol

Truely a work of art those Swindon CX20XE's. I can never get enough of RML engineering either.

There's a section on the guys vectra ST site with PDF's of loads of components. I just emailed him to see if he can put me onto anyone with similar Nissan stuff. :thumb: Fair play to the guy, normally people that own and run these cars don't share many detailed pics or information.

They must be running some uber special front shocks on that - there can't be much travel in them.

"Front – RML fabricated McPherson struts, anti roll bar (in various diameter), remote reservoir dampers with externally adjustable bump/rebound, coil over springs, RML designed lower wishbones. "

I'm well pleased. On my travels I have found a pic of something I have wanted to see for ever - P11 ST front upright design:

What would you do for spares on one of these, obviously there's second hand parts but if your racing and need something asap would the original manufacturers be able to supply it or what?

L14MNP
24-03-10, 04:18 PM
RML is the manufacturer mate. They don't make the parts any longer so certain things are in short supply from what I gather.

I noticed the spares list on that site so I guess there's certain things available but would be a right headache if you suffered serious damage in a race!

20 wheels equals five sets. sell five sets for 700 each and you've got £3500. therefore you are still 27500 short

Proper motor, a friend of mine sold his for 18k with spares a few years back.

Cars like that just aren't worth the money anymore as you cannot get the spares parts easy enough.

Gearboxes are porn, weigh nothing at all, we swapped a whole gearset in situ in about 15 mins whilst having a brew lol

I know the guy who has those wheels on his Mondeo now, cant say I'm a fan of the way they are redrilled, I bloody hope he runs some sort of spigot ring !

L14MNP
25-03-10, 04:30 PM
Is he the guy with a black 4dr mk1? I emailed the seller asking if he wanted my ST Mondeo spoiler and he said the black Mondeo belonged to the previous owner and he redrilled them. Small world lol.

From what I could see of the black one there was no spigot ring! :O

I had a link saved of a guy with a decent Alfa 155 Silverstone ST rep and he had PCD adaptors to take the standard centre locks. Much better idea and the way I would go TBH.

This is my mates old car, those are genuine BTCC Magnesium wheels with cenre lock adaptors he had made. IIRC the hub adaptors were about £600, the tool do them up was about £300 on its own !

I seem to remember something about a Sierra Cosworth running centre locks in a Ford mag feature. I'm tempted to say Classic Ford. Are they the ones from the Caliber Sierras?

Whether that was or wasn't your mate the guy mentioned the machining of the hubs in the article.

[EDIT] It was a Saph. lol

Tony is alright, awesome contact to have if you run one of these old cars and in terms of what the rrp was on some of those parts he is cheap but then by most peoples standards its ridiculous money lol

I have to be honest I wouldn't want to run a car that is that rare in a race series of any kind, I know thats why that Mondeo was up for sale as it was a bas**rd to get parts for, saying that it changed direction like a Eurofighter and could shake off most things with the right driver but still, one bump and or failure of any kind and its going to be thousands to sort, not my idea of a toy lol

muzzy
25-03-10, 10:29 PM
That would be the only thing that would worry me about running a car like that, would be hard to be committed in a race knowing that an off could end up costing so much.
