found out yesterday that i can't cancel my insurance as i had a clam when i hit a wall in the saloon. the insurance said i have to pay up £995. witch i don't have as i am a apprentice. then they said i cud keep the policy open and just swap it to another car. so I Thoret grate all get the GTE swapped on to it. so i started going throe the detail's with the man then her read them back to me (so that a vauxhall nova GTE 2.0l 16v)em no. so i told him that it was a 1.6 when new then the last owner converted it and am now converting it back.so this man is now:confused: so I tell some one ells that he handed me over to and they say no we cant insure you as it had a engine modification. so now i have to fined a cheep car. am going to try fined a 1 L or 1.2 nova till October when the insurance run out so it look like the GTE is not coming to pv. any idea's on wat ells I can do to try get the GTE on the road sooner:thumb:

thanks danny s-p

edit hope you can read it now think I sorted it

I am assuming that the GTE is logged as a 2.0 16v? To have that amended you may well need a mechanical report to provide to the DVLA. I don't know if this will all be done in time and it sounds as if your insurer aren't willing to play ball on this one. Only other option really is to take out a new policy but that seems a waste of money.

I'm not sure how long it would take to log the car as a 1.6 and to be honest I'm not sure what the actual procedure is, I would imagine it to be harder than going up an engine size. That is an option that is worth looking into but obviously if they asked for a mechanical report you need to be able to get the car to a garage to have the check carried out.

Get the logbook sorted to say its not a 1.6 again, then get yourself some temp cover insurance. Its not the cheapest way of doing it, would have cost me £25.00 for a day to insure a 2.0 Omega. Will get you back and forth from PV though.

sell it
and buy a 1.2
orrrr
if you have the monies, buy the 1.0/1.2 or anything sh1t then get insured on that till you can afford the insurance on the gte

That took some effort to figure out, but I gather the gist of it is you have a GTE which had a 2.0 16v put in, and now you're converting it back to a 1.6?

Unfortunately, thats STILL an engine conversion, you'll have to declare it (in the same way that if you replaced a 1.2 with another 1.2, you'd still have to declare it).

As for the rest of it - you have a claim outstanding and you want to cancel the policy? Is it because you're being prosecuted, I assume thats why you said the police were involved somehow?
