View Full Version : corolla twin cam question
lads n lassies,
fella i met earlier was lookin at my nova (particularly astonished of how well its kept) n said that a his friend has just finished restoring a twin cam (and do they need restoring! ). he said everyhtin was rebuilt including the 'pockets'. Ive heard of this before in twin cams what exactly are they?
cheers,
i'd assume when he said "restored" he meant rebuilt. its a commong thing to do for many engines, jstu to get back to factory power at least.
as for "pockets" id hazzard a guess that the pistons were pocketed to accept a higher lift cam. in which case the engine has been rebuilt to a fast road/race spec.
there have been a few of them rebuilt at uni by rally people, they seem to love the twin cam engines
the "pockets" in a twin cam are; in the boot when the side panels are off if you put your hand in and down towards the floor there is a pocket here (inside the rear wheel each side)
These rust away in all twin cams eventually.
