Right here we go, it's been a while since i've been on here but i think it hasn'nt been mentioned before.

A good friend of mine has recently got the car bug "small car big power",
and is ready to spead his hard erned, i'm slowly pushing him to hang on primaraly for a nova let or a very good corsa let both cars being a weekend toy not as a daily driver in the mean time he has been on the good old pistion heads and seen many pulsar gtir's for sale.
Know this is where your knowlege comes in people!.... A good example gtir with good bhp fetches around the same price as the same nova/corsa, let.

How can i push him away from his decision.....

From what i've reserced they seem very similar in quater miles e.t.c.

Your thoughts please.

Sleeperluv.

I would have a Pulsar over a Nova from a tuning point of view but then parts are generally a lot more expensive for them. The main problem with Corsa/Nova Turbo's are shoddy engine conversion's, if you get a good one then everyone's happy but pick up a rough conversion and it's going to be a nightmare. Main problem with Pulsar's are rust and the gearboxes.

ive got nothing against pulsars, they are very nice cars, and a lot of modding parts for them,as they are japanese.
but same as muzzy sed
if you can get one thats done properly with everything done then its worth it, id stick 2 a nova or corsa.

reliability is what id sell it on. when pulsars were big a few years back there useded to be quiet a few turn up at york race way and at every meet you could garantee on would blow up and they aint cheap to repair a nova or corsa xe/let would imo be more reliable and cheaper to repair if it went wrong would never keep with a pulsar on a twisty back road tho

Pulsars are very good at running alot of power easily, and being Japanese means the power will be more reliable...

Whatever car you decide, the decision will be made down to the performance or its status etc. Some would argue that a Nova has none, but that beside the point. £5k (to pluck a random figure) would be better spent on anything but a Nova in all fairness, but there is no logic & people will continue spending far more on projects.

There is no right or wrong opinion merely that this chap with funds makes his own unbiased opinion up for himself.

I'd have the Pulsar. Couldn't jusitfy spending 4-5k on a nova in all honesty.

I'd have an evo 2/3 for 3k and spent the rest playing with it, That will destroy a lot of cars out there if done correctly :)

But there is nothing wrong with a pulsarrrrrrr, same as the scoobys you modify them correclty and look after them they will last you...

This. Don't be a dick launching the GTi-R and it should be fairly trouble free.
The two cars can't be compared IMO. One's a 4WD rally bred turbo charged hot hatch and the other is a shopping trolley with a turbo motor crammed in that will turn most if it's power into tyre smoke. And then there's the handling...

Let nova ftw, but saying that, When a let goes bang a motor is £1200 and for a pulsar its around £1500, so its not too bad to be fair.

However, beeing a massive boost fan, I would say the nova, let corsa's are common as.

Or, get an xe nova for some fun, and build a mad spec pulsar with the change?

lol. a standard SR20 DET can be had for around £700 these days mate.
Bigger lol @ building a Pulsar with change. Tell me how to get one to run 300bhp with pocket money? lol

I'd have the Pulsar tbh.

Still cheaper than a LET with the same miles.

You just have to know where to look. You can pick up a rusty, complete JDM car for less than £1500 on occasion. They've come right down the last couple of years. Also with the SR16VE and SR20VE (JDM Vtec type engines) becoming easier to find this means that the DET from a Pulsar doesn't carry the premium it once did.

the first winner of the practical performance car £999 challenge was a £920 pulsar gti-r with a slipping clutch, whiney box and the boost tweaked manually. it later rollered at 313bhp. they do munch bearings for fun. lol
