yeh i thought they had a problem with tipping over tbh, i think the later mk1's if u like, have a longer wheelbase to stop this.

The negatives do tend to be a bit dramatic on HJ though lol

the tipping over was on development cars, so would be fixed for road cars..... I dont think even merc have the cash to pay out for deaths due to something they could fix on a mass run lol.

They are for either invilids or old people and generally driven by numpties.

Unless your mother fits into one of theses catergories, tell her not to bother.

I'm sure some of the early ones that were released failed the elk test?

I had one as i hire car for 2 months, couldnt wait to give it back!

It was a nippy litle car, but certainly not for me. Did my back in because the seats where uncomfortable.

What pissed me off more is that some pr**k smacked the wing mirror off. Cost me a fortune to replace

My mother in law loved the Swift she got as a courtesy car, but then she has a Corsa D so anything's an upgrade.

Stepmum had one, she made my Dad get rid of it as she didn't feel safe in it and had a couple of roundabout incidents... could just be cause she's a fat horrible bitch though

Ive just recently bought my mum one. Y plate 1.4 Auto with 55k on it. Magic little car. Yeah it is built to a budget, low end merc, but go check a corsa and things arent so bad in the Hitler patrol car world. Parts wise, im not finding gen merc stuff cheaper than gen ford or vauxhall. I like it, it suits my mum, its only ever gonna be a town car, so well in for it. If it is gonna be on some long hauls, the longer wheel base one with a larger motor is better stumping for.

I work for Merc. I'd try and avoid the older ones....Tend to have gearbox and ECU problems both costing the value of the car + to fix. Like someone else said, they're not put together well at all. Creek, rattle and break. Would avoid them if possible.

They sorted all the previous issues with the new one but you aren't going to get a newer model for between 2-3k.

Thanks,

Owen.
