My wee nova was a 1.0 which had been fitted with a post 95 1.4 engine. This morning in the heavy rain it cut out on me, I left her a while and then she started again.
I got home and put vasoline around the coil lead and the connectors. I was out in another down pour and it seemed to be fine.
So I thought I was on to a winner and started putting vasoline around the sealing edge of the dizzy cap
after 30-45 mins of driving the car cut out. Then started and cut out immediately. This went on for about 30mins and then it started running again.
It looks as though the vasoline melted at the dizzy, could this have got into the dizzy mechanism and caused the new gremlins?
