Right, got my xe finally in and got it running, not plumbed all the water in but on short runs (no wheels etc.) I seem to get the management light flickering and a reasonable miss fire.

Have not tried to flash the code yet, but not sure it will as it only flickers on and off.

Any ideas?

get some coolant in it or youl Fuc it up. Then give it a longer run

right got the coolant in, but I have major fouling of the plugs looks like horrendous over fuelling.

getting a lot of smoke and smell of fuel out the exhaust, still got a mad missfire!

but the light has stopped flickering!

really weird. I was thinking either timing out of problems with the fuel pressure regulator.

Any ideas?

This has the same symptoms as my xe! mines misfiring on number 3 and overfuelling n smoking lol im going to try a coolant temp sensor to see if it sorts the problem. let me know if you find a cure before i do hehe

if you have a power boost valve type fuel reg take it off and bin it imho

CTS. Check it/change it.

no power boost valve just the standard one.

Tis really weird!

might try the CTS and coolant temperature sensor first. I had all the timing marks lined up when I did the timing, both top pulleys and the bottom pulley on the notch so I cant see its timing!

I also dont know a lot about the history of the engine. I would have thought with dodgy sensors it would have flashed up a fault??

worth buing a cts they aint that expensive coild be lots of things tho.

I code read my one earlier and it came up with no codes lol, looking on auto data it looks like the XEs CTS plays a far bigger part in the management than i thought, looked on troubleshooter and every fault listed says check CTS as well as a few other components lol

CTS is Coolant temp sensor.

Right then, I think I have finally sorted the missfire and the management light flickering. I have been tinckering with all of the sensors and the loom for a while now. I finally had a breakthrough on the Mig Website and had a look at the wiring the the CTS. Low and behold below the outher rubber cover only one wire was connected. I have since found a new plug off an old loom and rewired the plug. For the 3 seconds it would fire before I had run out of fuel, the engine sounded smooth and miss free. I now have to get some petrol as all I am getting out of the fuel rail is air at the mo! that will teach me for not wiring up the fuel guage yet! LOL.

But if you have a miss fire problem on the C20XE I would deffo take all the protective covers off the plugs and check for coroded wiring and or broken wires. The looms are old now and this will become a more common problem like it has with the Series One RST. I should know I used to own one of them too!
