there always has to be one
there is three where my girlfriend lives and one of them even phoned the cops because i parked over there drive (that they have never used) it is just silly so the next time i went up to the girlfriends and the nextdoor neighbour was out i had a word with her about it and she said the reason that she didn't ask me to move my car is because she thought i would tell her to f***off in witch i replyed all you have to do is ask and i would have moved it and then the silly bitch a couple of days later reverses into my car i didn't mind because it wasn't the nova but i could have called the cops but ime not that petty i just popped the grill back in an said no moor there is alot of mardy people out there thats all its quitesad reallylol

Im actually doing the same at present, house hunting that is. Found the perfect pad, 5 doors down from a 24hour Tesco forecourt & has a garage!

If youve got the know how & equip/tools/contacts a house thats in need of some remedial work is a good option.

Im not as pi55ed off about the prices of houses, rather the stupid deposits that the banks expect you to pay to get a mortgage. How is anyone supposed to be able to save that amount of money. I have paid my rent for over 2 years on time with no issue. why cant the banks take that as a good reference that i will be able to pay a mortgage.

the banks all got shafted on the 125% self certificated thing, and they've gone back to their mid nineties rules again.

this country used to be mostly renters, as it is in france & germany, the british economy was built on mortgage lending...

I know exactly what your saying! Its taken me nearly 2years to save up a 10% deposit an banks are very reluctant to lend me anything more then about £67k!

A friend of mine whos self employed has an annual income of about £135k that goes into his account, however out of that comes the wages of 3 other blokes plus materials, fuel etc etc. HSBC refused to even offer him any mortgage an they were going by the income into "his" bank account! (£135k)

lol the pain in the ass part is the

"you need a mortgage to get a house, you need to have an accepted offer to get a mortgage"

Its quite good round here, people up the road are abit boring, but they never complain about random cars, the small congregation around my house have gotten less bothered/stranger/doing random acts, i can't help but feel i've influenced people to a certain extent, but meh, it means i could run down the street with a paintball gun or similar and people would just laugh instead of complaining about the youth of today

Sparkie, I'm guessing those are all oop norf? Down here, you'd be looking at qtr mil for each of those pads.

My ex's grandparents bought their house back in 19longago with a £2k mortgage and everyone at the time told them they'd never pay it off! Now they're laughing as its worth about 90x that. Albeit in skadgy bridgwater lol

UPDATE

the first link i posted is no longer for sale, they have decided to rent, but this bungalow has come up

corner plot, decent integral garage, with central heating in it (FTW)
very expensive solid oak kitchen with proper granite work tops
new carpets
new doors and skirting
new combi boiler, lawn will all be re turfed and shrubed
drive for 5 cars minimum not including garage space
potential to convert garage and build a large single/double in corner of garden
most of garden is south facing

bad points

it needs a new front door
new gargage door
drive needs block paving (horrid concrete)

its quite close to a busy road but i grew up on one so ill most prob get used to it and u cant hear it in side

Front doors are cheap enough regardless of material, especially if you can fit it yourself (check the requirements with Building control though  )

I've helped my dad fit a new frame and rehang a henderson garage door. It was surprisingly straight forward. You just need some help and to be methodical. Again the doors aren't mega expensive.

You'll be grateful of concrete when you've spilled oil or grease lol block paving is an **** with jobs on cars. Oh and it will inevitably end up with grooves where you always drive your car. That said I prefer block paved.

At the end of the day, use these jobs as bargaining power if you really want the place.

good calls there dude

touche on the driveway, never though about that, maybe tarmac or paint the concrete?

pikey1986
25-03-10, 02:40 PM
ive got tarmac but its gone that soft( i could dig it up with a spoonlol) because of all the oil, petrol etc dropped on it over the years, personally id paint the concrete and it'll cost a fraction of the price

Spudly
25-03-10, 02:42 PM
I wouldnt paint the concrete as you will end up with a nice slippery surface and will go ass over tit every time it rains, either that or your postman will and you will wind up having them claim compensation from you after seeing one of those fecking annoying adverts!

Really bad idea from a health and safety perspective!

You can get proper paint that is anti-slip etc for workshops though you're probably better to just seal it to stop oil and dirt soaking in and jobs a good un.

Bet none of ya'll can beat this...

Over 25 years ago my dad bought this house...

Terrace, needed inside work doing, 2 bedroom, decent sized master bedroom and front room.

We didn't own the garage at the top of our yard at that time.

Have a guess how much he payed for it back then.

Then i'll tell you what he would get for it now abouts.

my dads too old to get a mortgage i think, its just all bollocks

technically i have a mortgage deal with nationwide at 42k deposit but after i paid the arrangement fee/booking fee 2weeks passed and then they decided they wanted £5,900 more deposit makin my deposit required £48k, i can afford it just but i dont like the idea of having the most expensive purchase of my life and being somewhere ive not been for 4 yrs, ie brasic

Stuart
03-08-10, 12:25 PM
surely the mortgage company can put you onto a slightly higer interest rate for having a different LTV than they want for the product you were after...

14days is about par for the course on keeping an offer open as they change daily at the moment.

When we were looking for a deal, the broker gave us the "window" of money that we'd be offered.... we wanted about 20% less than the lowest number lol How shifty.

im pretty certain ive source a mortgage today only to ring the vender and confirm all is ok as the estate agent is painting me as the bad guy an that ive dropped off the face of the earth..................... to then call the estate agent for him to cut me short and say they have had another offer and its been accepted..........im sick of this ****

the vender had jsut confirmed to my dad i was only one in picture, i called him after my convo with the e/agents and he was like i best speak with parents im in the middle.........still no call back

welcome to the world of estate agents... they are unqualified, unregulated & work on commission... they are usually too dodgy to sell used cars... & being on a commission means they will do just about anything to screw more out of you....

when we bought our place, we gave a specific date to move & had them agree to it. sure enough, about 2 weeks before the due date, they tried to drag it out... so i told them to simply rip everything up & find a new buyer, & i'd be after them for breach of contract...i moved in on the correct date.

Out of the ones you've put up, taking into account the money the last one looks the best. View and you'll find out, maybe the neighbours suck
