PS3 Problem

ok ive got a ps3 40gb, and i was playing on cod mw2 today and all of a sudden the ps3 just decided to shut down on me, it did the 2 beeps as if you are holding your finger down on the off button at the front, and now everytime i try and turn it back on it goes onto the green bar then beeps and goes onto red..

ive left for about an hour incase it overheated and no result, ive unplugged all cables etc,


Anyone know what i could be?

found the problem on the internet, its called the light of death which is basicaly the same as xbox ring of death, so yeah ps3 is broke "/

i dont know if we have warrenty tho, the ps3 ive got at the minute is one we got from Sony when our old one died because of a bad batch and we sent it back to them and got this one, which we have had for about 10 months i think, so i need to ring them soon to see what they say, but apparently they charge $150 + tax etc, to fix the problem?

i just watched that baxter and seemed pretty helpful because apparently thats what 90% of the problem is, which means if sony cant fix it then i need to buy myself a heatgun and some thermal solution.

ill have a look at my hard drive in a bit southie, but im not 100% sure if taking that out it brakes my warrenty seal?

Happened to my launch day 60gb ps3, got a ps3 slim free of charge.

well i had a problem with my old ps3, it was constantly overheating, and eventually broke, so i rang up sony and they sent me out a new one ( which ive just found the refrence number for ) and the one they gave me is the one that just got the light.
what do i need to do? ring them up again and explain that its one they gave me and i still have the refrence number for it etc?

i wouldnt mind a ps3 slim :thumb:

360's break down 67% more than ps3's,
my brother has a 360 and its broke 4 times in the last 3 months, my ps3 has broke once in about 10 months, and usualy they dont break for a few years,
+ ps3 tinternet is FREE lol
