The other day i went to start my SR for ther first time in about a month, i turned the key and nothing happened. When the key is in the ignition position all the electrics like the stereo, wipers etc work, except for the ignition light, and when i turn the key there is nothing from the starter motor.
After a look through the Hayes manual i think the problem could be the start switch?
Could anyone give me any help or advice on how to fix the problem or if this isn't the problem what else could it be?

Thanks :thumb:

Ign switch is about £5. Does it not click or anything?

The key goes into the ignition position as normal, but when you turn the key to start the engine theres absolutely nothing.

Id agree, duff ign switch. Motorfactors, £5-10 at worst, not hard to change.

Is everything except the starter working?

Does it start with a bump?

Could be a duff starter? Or the switch as stated.

did you try turning the ignition on and join a wire from a live to the red/black starter wire. if you do this under the steering wheel it will tell you if the switch is duff.

it could be a very dead battery that still gives enough juice for the stereo and lights... its not uncommon you know.

Well its not the ignition switch :( replaced that and nothings changed.

Tried jump starting, that didn't work, and it's sat in the middle of our drive with other cars around so so i haven't got the room to bump it :(

Do the dash lights dim down when you try to start it?

i got mine going again last night by tightening the screws around the stearing wheel, i must have dodgy wires. At least she is working again...for now!
