what sort of track? i race on a concrete track and the best tyre i have come across is a kingpin remould tyre. i spent hundred's last year on expensive tyres but nothing matched these. but thats only on a concrete banger track, not tried them on anything else.
R888's are road legal aren't they? Although I'm not sure if they go as small as a 13"...

How road leagal do you want?the arsey answer is: Strictly speaking cut slicks are road legal, however you might spend a lot in court fees proving it, but you will need to know your stuff if you get stopped as a few people I know have had a few fines handed to them as the tyre says "competition only" down the side, which the copper took literally...
The easy answer is Yokohama a048's or a021's are a very good and although they are not E marked(I think), a copper will be more convinced by them then slicks... LOL

I think as long as they are E marked they are fine for road use. Toyo 888's & Yoky A048's are road legal.

They only need to be E marked for sale in the UK, otherwise they must state "off road use only" or similar. There is nowhere in the legislation that states a tyre must be E marked for USE on the UK roads.
Sorry to drag the thread up.
However if a048's are marked then I would strongly recommend them! For tarmac, soft on the front and super softs on the rear seem to be the way many run, especially in rallying.
just buy part worn ones & run them on steelies, get them from a scrapper & fit them when you arrive at the track. then drop them off at the council tip when you've trashed them
