curtoise, with what you've got under there....i would recommend fitting them on the A pillars pushing downwards to keep it shut

LMFAO mowgli lol could be a plan lol,

i mean they dont compress, fitted them to the car, and the bonnet wouldnt shut

well there is going to be some resistance on it, they're made to hold up a fairly heavy 2 skin car panel... this takes me back to the wheelnut thread, only you can't use a 30ft bar and a mate to help you close your bonnet :p

you sure you're not being too careful? I know they are stiff as fook. Tried to compress them by hand thinking they're like boot struts lol. They do slightly get softer as you use them but they are very stiff.

Look through Joffs thread for the positioning on his as he worked out the best place to have them mounted to allow for ease of opening/closing and still retaining enough power to weight to hold the bonnet up:thumb:

look at these (https://www.europaspares.com/BRIGHTWORK/HINGES_and_LATCHES/CLICK_BOOT___BONNET_STAYS_3366.html)... they are a bit old fashioned, but they don't knacker your bonnet

Curtoise

for fulfilling a purpose, the standard bonnet stay works, for not looking old fashioned you use lifters lol

OLD FASHIONED??????????

so instead of having your bonnet held up by the original stay at a show, where some ar$e is going to knock it, and cause loads of damage, we should all fit innappropriate gas struts off god knows what that then bend the bonnet so it looks sh1te all because its new & cool?????

its a nova of course its old fashioned

This is exactly the purpose of bonnet lifters yes, I prefer the standard bonnet stay myself lol

^ Same as mine. That's how they are ment to be fitted.

If you, whilst shutting them, put to much force or shut it too quickly they can bend the hinge. Same goes for trying to open it fast or for those (like garages) that don't know lifters are installed, pulling them up manually can bend hinges.

A garage slightly bent my right hand hinge so now my bonnet just nicks the ventilation panel (bit with the wipers on it)

They'd look OEM if they were holding open a tailgate. lol How big?

I'm not a fan of bonnet lifters in general though tbh.
