ok, my comp brake tomp mounts arrived today, all looked good and went to fit tehm, with the knowledge that i asked gaz to machine my struts down as i was intending to fit top mounts in the future... all ok, or so i thought, too my shock off from the exsisting mopunts and had this:

please confirm my fears that tis has not been machined down to accept ally top mounts? casue if it has i cant see how they fit, and i have been told by compbrake they fit, small spacer, mount, threaded spacer? and that they make all top mounts for gaz?
these are the spacers they have sent me:

i have done a crude drawing to show my problem, as it says, do i need to shorten the threded spacer, or get the thread extended? do i make a spacer to take up the play below the small spacer, how do i know how far to send the top mount down the strut? plus have i drawn it right, am i correct in saying thats how it should fit together?

My mates only used the non threaded spacer. The top mount fits over the diameter of the strut and then the little spacer goes in the top with a nylock nut on top. This is how his were sent from Gaz themselves.

i purchased gaz coilovers and compbrake top mounts and it didnt go together propperly just like yours.

I sent mine back to gaz with the top mounts they machined and built them up and sent the back to me within 3 days.

Hope this helps

Hi mate,

been here before.

E-mail gaz ('enquiries@gazshocks.com')

And tell them the problem.

I sent mine back (along with my top mount) and they fixed it. What they do is simply extend the thread down so you can screw it down further.

Top blokes at gaz , they returned mine in under two working days !!

so basically we need to get GAZ to put extra threadding on the struts... simplez.

although GAZ do also supply the top mounts themselves so would be perfectly machined lol

not neccessarily, what i have done is drilled down the threaded spacer with a 12mm bit, about 10mm, to create a tube rather than a thread, then re taped it to clean the thread, and made up my own spacer to fit above the spring cap between the first top hat spacer at the bottom of the top mount, works a treat! but to save drilling the threaded spacer, the thread would have to be extended, but you must always use the spacer i have made as to allow the top mount sufficient room to turn.
