I can pitch a tent fine in bed lol

I shall be camping it up for the first time in ohhhhhhhh 15+ years at Billing this year. Carly and Amber(will be approx 18 months) will be coming too.

So we want a good quality tent thats uber waterproof etc probably 2 "bedrooms" and lots of storage space, but not to be epicly massive when down etc.

Dont want to spend a total mint on it as it might be a one or two off use lol
Ideas please folks :)

I borrowed one of these: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3401448/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CSports+and+leisure%7C14419152/c_2/3%7C15701428%7CCamping%7C14419397/c_3/4%7Ccat_14419397%7CTents%7C14419414.htm for PV/combe/trax and it worked perfectly, even waterproof in the PV downpour, however as usual 3 man in a tent means you can fit 3 sleeping bags in it side by side, so I'm not sure that would be big enough for what you want... but something bigger, similar price ish and 2 layer should be plenty waterproof etc?

all tents are made in china. they also do a really clever trick, they make the bag out of a heat shrink plastic, so once its in the bag, it gets cooked & tight as a ducks ar$e.... and you will never ever get it all back in the bag ever....

get on the argos website, they will have some end of range stuff

or eBay, just get an 8 person tent, you'll soon fill it with stuff

This one any good Stuart CLICKY (http://www.thesportshq.com/confidence-holiday-lux-6-man-2-room-tent.aspx?CAWELAID=385273215) thats if your wanting a couple of rooms, oh its a six man though. May be a ballache if your setting up on your own, plenty of room though.

Or if your wanting to get the tent up quick there's this CLICKY (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Pop-Up-4-Camping-2-Festival-Tent-3-Man-Person-Berth_W0QQitemZ220483919194QQcategoryZ36117QQcmdZV iewItem) but only the one room. Probably best though if it's peeing it down and your wanting to please the wife. :d

its like anything Stu you get what you pay for.
Mine is a vango orchy 6 birth.
It was fine in the hale storm at the national last year and the rain last year.
I think it was around £200 but well worth it mate.

That one mate if i can stand up in it you will have no trouble.

New spec is one LARGE tent/room thing so a chavel cot can go in away from the entrance and we can sleep around that lol.

I like the pink teepee though

Tescos have a good size 6-man/two room tent on offer on their website at the mo, 50% off so £60. Unfortunately its been out of stock for ages (well, 3 days, but thats long enough), so I'm waiting for it to come back in. As I want one.

Its not brilliant quality but it should do. Methinks the handful of bad reviews about it are from people who cba to put up a tent properly. Oh, and its >200mm tall in the midsection so you won't get a bad back from having to crouch over. Or run the risk of spudly slipping you one in the rear when you enter the tent.

You're just making sure Stu doesn't get the last one before you lol Tescos tents looked crap when I looked at them tbh, single skin and cheap fabric... parents got me one for christmas for the show season though (for a car I can't afford due to the mounting debt I was told wouldn't happen at uni, but that's a whole different essay lol) So I guess we'll see :p

you will end up spending more on cheap tents in the long run as they dont last at all. the one i had last season either needs lots of repair or binning. i can see it heading for the bin to be honest. that was a halfords £80 jobbie

Imho don't. tents tend to be cheaper in places you'll least expect to find them. ie netto/b&m etc. i bought our 6man coleman off bay for about £50 iirc.

At about 12 ish last year we needed more fire, so walked off to find some wood.

I found a 6foot long branch.. That was still quite wet and sticky and basicly just smoked like funk!

This is true, Craig ommitted this spec in his trailer tent. The fact it leaked directly over his bed was only made funnier by the fact it also leaked over the only other part he could put his bed as well lol

Stuart

not such a stupid thing to put in the spec afterall then ;)

I'd recommend coleman for a good cheap tent stu.

17-03-10, 07:10 PM
That Coleman Montana 6 looks perfect but not available in the UK :( And the tents they have for the UK market are twice the price, half the size :(

this is what we got for 50 quid.

can stand up in it with ease. a little fiddly to put up, but held up well in the wind and rain in wales. Bit bulky whn packed up.
