The 150 version. Basically, I'm kinda curious...what can keep up with these for the same money?

7.9 0-60 seems pretty quick, quicker when 190bhp is available for a £300 remap.

Can't comment on the A3 as i've never driven one but I own an S3 with the 1.8T. Good engine, goes well if just a bit thirsty.

Audi's are a nice drive though, nice and refined :)

Lad at work has one, and considering all he's done to it is a carbonio induction kit, it proper shifts for a 1.8. I wouldn't mind one tbh, but the mrs thinks they're ugly. lol

I had a 1.8T leon cupra - probably 1/2 to 1/3 the price of an Audi A3, has the same dash, better chassis and 180bhp (0 - 60 lists 7.7secs iirc) but mid range was awesome as was full chat lol

EDIT that was an AUQ engine and they chip to 208bhp as they have a K03s not a K03. K04 was fitted to the BAM engine (225bhp chips to 245bhp) ;)

astra coupe turbo for me, had one for a while running 217bhp and would pull 155mph (exhaust, filter and air box pipes)
full heated leather, cruise control etc, very nice cars

David.

A3/any similar VAG variant = dull and boring and painful to be in lol

I have a Mk 4 Golf Gti 1.8 20vT AUM engine code so K03s equipped...

With the custom code remap and some other subtle mods it is circa 200Bhp.

Not the fastest thing out there but surprises a few things...

Recently had an indicated 155 mph on a private test track ;-)...

A3s are alright, a fairly competent but dull drive. Nicely made but compared to my Audi 80 daily hack, there isn't much room under the bonnet to work on them!

I was in a mk2 golf with a VR6 2.6 in it about 2 month ago and the sound was awesom!

Very quick what what they are!

You can pick up a VR6 engine for about 500 - 600 so well worth the money.

My dad's S3 is Ok, but to be fair thats the 225bhp engine with 4WD.

My sister has the 180 version on a W plate, and gets 18mpg a lot of the time and rarely sees much higher on runs. Plus the interior looks like Blue Nova SRi trim not good

Sounds like a poorly engine to me , probably a duff MAF.

On a run mine will do 35mpg with ease. I have seen 45mpg driving like miss daisy.

lol it's not mine pal. Lad at works got one, and looking into tuning it. It goes pretty well, so was just curious about keeping up with it with my next motor. lol

i have a imola yellow S3 210bhp 1.8T, and get 28mpg on everyday driving, not eco driving and also remember these S3's weigh 1460kg and run 4wd too, i wouldnt buy the 150bhp A3, id get a golf GTI turbo instead or a S3, but you can find the 1.8T 20v engine in VW, SEAT, SKODA, AUDI with 150, 180, 210, 225 bhp depeding on model and can be tuned to over 450 bhp!! im looking at a turbo kit from backdraft motorsport, they say it will give me upto 350bhp and can retain the standard internals, but 350 is about the limit for standard pistons etc.

He's currently looking into what mods he needs to see 250bhp. It's a nice motor tbh, goes well and has the old 'sleeper' look with it being a 5dr version. lol
