Dave's silky GSi rebuild.

hey people, as some of you may know iv been busy building my engine lately..... but i also decided i wasnt happy with the condition of the rest of the car.

the plans for the car is to completely restore the underneath of the car replacing what i can as i go such as bushes, bolts, brake/fuel pipes and any tin worm etc. painting the underside with schutz or stonechip, high build primer, silk violet paint then lots of laquer!!a big thanks in advance to chrisnovaturbo for his help so far and in the future.

build the x16xe engine to a high spec for fast road use with the ocasional track day here and there but to be kind of practical at the same time lol

used an 8v flywheel as its lighter than the 16v and had it lightened and balanced and had the clutch balanced to the flywheel.

used ARP flywheel bolts too. more pics soon.

even got the misses involved today lol she help keep the flywheel still whilst i torqued it up lol

it made 137.7bhp when mapped at track n road in essex in may 2010

its having another winter rebuild at the mo lol will get more pics soon.....

iv fitted hi-spec 4pots, harnesses, striped interior and now i want more power :)

so im pulling it aparty again to fit gas flowed head,SBD cams,verniers,injectors, and valve gear to suit so im hoping for a solid 170bhp ....ish

not been on here for ages and had trouble with logging in

the car has been off the road since sept/oct due to that horrible time of year so here's a bit of an update

few engine mods in april which were later style head fully ported and manifolds matched,SBD 278/284 cams,titanuim valve caps,SBD springs and platforms,turbo sport adjustable pulleys all held down with ARP headstuds and cometic headgasket:)

also got the new wheels on (team dynamics pro race 3's) made from magnesium and in a custom colour
managed to get hold of some hispec billet 4 brakes so i bought some mintex 1144 pads a dot 5.1 fluid and the work awsome!

had the car mapped in may at Dynotech in Erith,Kent by my girlfriends dad who is a well known mitibushi evo tuner and he is an absolute genius!
it made 179bhp which im very pleased with but had developed a problem in september which was with the throttle bodies being out of balanced leading to cycliner 2 not gettin any air on idle causing it to misfire and flood along with the fuel pressure regulator being up and down:(

does anybody know a good place to balance my throttle bodies? as iv tried doing it my self but not had much luck

put a decent fuel reg on it and then speak to track n road about ballencing boddies. im sure lee had a fuel reg if he has fit that.
