I like both sets and I've got another set at home lol I prefer the 4 spokes but it handles shocking on the monty tyres, they were good through winter though. ;)

I thought you didn't do technology Rick, have you one of those cameras that some else holds the flash and it explodes KABOOM lol

Looks great mate :) Gotta hate that road salt on ageing dailys! Jack Frost has kicked the Lolvos ar$e this time around. Second winter for it after being unused and garaged for about 15 years. :( lol

Ah well. I minced on and cleaned mine up yesterday too. Gives new enthusiasim IMO. Just need it's decent wheels back on now, kind of like you. lol :thumb:

Joe Richardson, water is fine. It's road salt that will rust it mate.

Really like your car bar the rims.

Southie
14-03-10, 09:20 PM
Cheers Limp on the advice lol Mines looking better in the pictures in all fairness as the arches have corroded a tad this rear :( It did feel nice to drive after giving it a decent clean though so I know what you mean, odd though.

Pete that's my trouble and why I've left them on as some days I like that set instead lol

I might have to put up a poll for this wheel situation.

On any other Nova I would agree. i hate the 4 spoke GSi rip things with a passion usually, and the Astra 15's normally look cheap, but both really suit his car. :)

vaughanmc
14-03-10, 09:25 PM
Front wheels (Astra Mk2 CDi) suit it nicely mate

Something a wee bit different and smaller wheels increase acceleration :thumb:

So it's not just me then lol Ive had all sorts of thoughts on what to have, cesaro, expression, sr steelies (have these), slabs (had these also suited it and I hate them wheels) Speedlines (look great but not not on mk1).

The main wheels I always wanted were the 5 spoke CD design ones from years ago but doubt I'll find any nowadays.

When I've got the full set on though (6 spokes) they don't suit the front end and look too new for some reason. All hatches are the same throughout every year so that's why they look okay on the rear lol
The 4 spokes look cack on the rear as it sits too high but if I lower it any more my exhaust would catch on the speed bumps :(

Aye, tough choice. For being a standard looking Nova your car is very unique mate. Hence I see the attraction to keep it on OEM wheels and ones from the correct decade at the very least. lol

Speedlines can look great on a GTE though! I'd be tempted by the 4 spokes, if only to show they can actually look good! :thumb:

Corsakid has speedlines on his MK1 and they do look good but some how it wouldn't do mine justice I reckon.

Ade has the 4 spokes on his and I don't think they suit his SR lol but they do mine some how

L14MNP
14-03-10, 09:45 PM
It's the colour! Agreed on the Ade's SR. Isn't that on Astra Sport steels now? I think it sits too high.

I can't remember who's GTE I like on Speedlines, but I've seen a few. :)
i wonder how yours would look an Astra GSi fan blades. Probs crap, but they lend themselves well to the mk1 shape IMO.

Ive had many a thought on them and the set that Brettski had were really nice but I think they'd be a absolute barsteward to keep clean, so for that reason I'm oot. lol

I did a Photoshop of fanblades and they look shat lol

The colour of my car is what makes it a bloody nightmare to decide, to be fair I still actually think it would suit GSI 3 spokes ;)

L14MNP
14-03-10, 09:54 PM
You mean SR 3 spokes ;) Make them as old as you can. Course it would suit them, but you're back to that 14" dilema again. lol

lol Exactly, oops gsi I was stuck in a mk2 phase for a second lol

I think I'll have to do some shops of this and post up through the week. What ever I choose though the only colour will be silver. :d

L14MNP
14-03-10, 10:01 PM
Silver for the stock look FTW. Speaking of wheels you reminded me, still need to spray the Lolvos Superlites after your 'shops. :thumb:

I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Looking good Southie, 5 hours is deffo knackering but the results are worth it.

Never been keen on the 4 spokes tbh. If I had to choose between the two it would be the rear wheels but I think cav slabs would suit your car well. Shame there's no one to do a shop to see what it looks like lol

I'm currently wondering what Vaux wheels I should go for (if I can get them for a good price).

I'm hardly restyling it soft lad, I love the look and colour just think it would look good on a set of matching period wheels, why don't you be different with your car a fit a three foot rubber c0ck to the roof?
