I'm selling some nova front suspenion legs with lowering springs and just got asked this:
"hi the two lower holes that attach to your hub the top one most people drill it bigger so you can adjust camber , have they been drilled ? you can easily see if you look at them and if they are the same then they havent been drilled, Thanks
Now am i just out of touch or is that not only random but also stupid? :wtf:
by drilled he means ovalled/elongated... valid question if he can't see in the pic?

I ment about drilling them in the first place? I have never heard of this being done on nova's before?
as far as i know this is done alot as for it being adjustable not really as no matter how much you tighten it it will find its way back to the farthest point (if that makes sense) alot of the ''LADS'' round here do it to corsas more then novas but same thing i suppose

This is also wot i thought which makes it pointless and i personally would'nt do it either as it sounds like it could be dangerous?
thay do it to get camber if you elongate your hole towards the inner wing as it would be.
the camber will be negative giving it a ''TRACK'' look well as people think or ''EURO'' maybe evan ''RAT'' yes i agree it is silly

I don't think it will be dangerous, unless you drill too much out. As you said, I just think it would try to move back to the furthest point.

Yeah but surely the metal and overall structure will be weaker now? and not able to take asmuch stress at some times?
Its just like cutting a slot out of your rear axle to get some "Dub-Camber", IMO i wouldnt drive a car if it has the suspension bodged
as djshaggeh said it is not mega dangerous you are taking metal out that is cast there but it is a over manufactuered part imo as long as you dont go stupid it would be fine.
Any way back on topic i doubt yours have been tampered with so i wouldnt worry

it was in the haynes manual to adjust the top shocky holes slightly so me thinks its not dangerous unless you drill a massive hole lol and vw polo's have bigger holes in the shocky and the camber can be adjust from / to |
Its perfectly acceptable and has been done for years!
Even a well known nova rallying company use this method, its used to adjust camber and it was done on my widearch fitted with GAZ coils.
Nova tolerances are pap, its an easy and effective way of attaining some sort of camber adjustment fir increased geometry adjustability.
Get back in your box now yeah?
And also most coilovers have these elongated top holes to allow for camber adjustments when youre car is uber slammed, drilling something like i dunno a set of G-max dampers is just a council estate way of doing the same as the coileys lol

maybe a very similar item, or the same item has already been on sale.... some people, me included actually watch a category for a while to work out a price & to see just whats about, and i see loads of stuff that is suddenly relisted in a different area with a higher price, a bit like all those driving light grilles you keep selling

its easy find the camber you want and weld a washer in simples.
Gotta love this. epecially xxxxxxxxxNovaxxxxxxx's input. I bet if a 'proper' company were selling 'camber kits' the same as that you would think it fine.
Doing stuff in your garage can be as good and sometimes a lot better - if you think it through.
Instead of the usual 0mg suspensi0n mods with Dremmelz = deathh!!!1!

most coilovers have camber adjustment, so it's not weird/dangerous or whatever.
Vauxhall dealers used to do it to correct camber issues when the cars were still being made, that's why it's in the Haynes book. Haynes for the Nova is basically the Vx TIS in print lol
