I notice some people have chopped the flimsy top part of the bulkhead away (the bit just in front of the battery and heater blower)

What is the best way of removing this?

yes it has no heater so all holes in the bulkhead will be welded over

yeh i was planning on using a cutting disc to take it off, and then smooth it down with a grinder. Just wondering if this is what other people had done?!

Not done it on mine but did chop a small part away. I just used a dremel to start it off and then tin snips but I wasn't cutting a large section out.

Best thing is just to take a grinder to it. Cut above the seem to start with and then work out how its best to get it level. You might want to leave a 1cm lip so you can bend it flat.

yeh i was going to leave a bit on and then work from there, try and smooth it best i can

Same for the burning oil comment.

I did mine the other day, easy job. I just cut down each side with a grinder, and then all the way across the bottom. I left the two end pieces though, for the wiper motor, and for the battery clamp bracket.
You can remove the lot if you fit a scuttle mounted wiper motor and shift the batt inside the car.

was planning to shift battery to boot, but i will need to leave passenger side on for wiper motor. i want to fit a corsa pedal so thought it would allow more space

iv lost my cutting discs and the little spigot for the grinder :(

is the corsa wiper motor an easy fit? Many mods required?

burgo

i found it easy enough, i am only running it as a single wiper though

i was considering a single wiper conversion anyway. Is the wiring the same for the corsa one?

burgo

plugs straight in which is the beauty of it. although you will have to lengthen the wiring obviously. to mount it i simply cut off the half of the linkage i didnt need and then welded a big washer to it. then a rivnut in the bulkhead and job done. actual fitting of it should on take half an hour

whats a rivnut? Sorry to sound stupid

burgo

well i assume you know how a rivet works? they work on the same principle although instead of joining two things together they give you a thread to bolt to

Ad, its most the smell from the engine bay. You might not here a blowing exhaust but you'll smell it in car, same with burning oil, as most engines just blow any extra pressure back thru the inlet alot of times in the bay you can smell it. Heat from the engine too, air comming in the heater will be alot hotter.
