Love you too bubba haha, got loads of parts with it too, which you may see scattered around my workshop. This isn't as much work as my old cav turbo or my sportive astravan though lol
Good to see this going back as a road car.
Lovely, a great plate on it too!

CavalierTurbo

Thanks Guys, Yeah will be nice when its back on the road, its still MOT'ed so techinally useable minus the engine problem lol, but want it back to as near as original as possible. Minus wheels of course- hmmm white softstars :P
Yeah that plate is a bonus. my friends refer to the car as A thirteen . (A13) ...not a Nova lmao

Can you not get the 60/40 trim material fitted to a single seat base/back?
It can be done;)

Thats nae a bad idea to be honest.
Will try my best to keep the updates coming, although i always go out to work on it and leave the camera hidden inside lol
What are you planning to use the sport for
I would reuse the doorcards on there already if they are ok!
Good on you for returning to road use, good luck with it.

Good collection of parts you've amassed mate. Does this mean you have a spare set of clocks up for grabs? If so, PM me.
Good luck with the project. :)

What are you planning to use the sport for
To be truly honest its actually my misses car, i just do the work and buy most parts for it, It will be put back on road and she will insure it, then it will be used a few times a month as her car. and obviously i will be on insurance for shows and some good old fasioned blast down the lanes :D

Going to try to, to be honest. Thanks and i'm needing it at times, it stressful lol

Update-
We have purchased an engine, admitedly its a 1.2 8v, this will be fitted to get the car mobile so that it can do the shows this year. Then next winter i will purchase and fully rebuild to factory spec a 1.3 8v With carbs etc.
We know have a Full Heater Setup and wiring loom. Thanks to Mark. Also we have a standard steering rack and column. Thanks to Bubba.
Also whilst at my local scrappy i purchased a brand new coil, a metal oil cap, some genuine GM rubber mats, a wiring loom, a heater motor, most interior screws and bolts. and other bits and pieces all for just £35. Bargain!
In process of getting some service items bought and fitted to the engine for now. Also Getting wiring loom fitted and a few bits and pieces welded/grinded to be pt back to standard.
Also We have purchased a set of Cavalier Cesaro alloys. These will be powdercoated in white and fitted with new low profile tyres and will be fitted to the nova in summer time and at shows.
Pictures to follow

Why thank you mr.brains, Can't wait to actually drive it down the road!
just some you know i now have a number of times used the covers off a 60/40 split bench on a solid bench. takes a long time sewing them together but its worth it imo

Maybe i will try this. seem like an easy enough idea to make it more "genuine"

Do-able but there are two things, firstly the fabric widths are different(centre brown section is narrower & check wider on the bench) and secondly there will be a hole in your rear carpet where the inner hinge is missing from the 60 section base.

This is a valid point mate. Guna have to just put up with it i think.
I know i will probably be strung up for saying this, and i'm not intending to upset anyone. But,
I'm affraid thats the way it's going to have to be . I'd love to make this a 100% genuine factory sport. but it's never going to happen. its already going to be lowered 40mm on cesaros. it's going to have a radio in and its going to have to be a 1.2 for now. Its a shame and i know the Purist Sport guys will be shaking there heads in disappointment. But thats just how its going to have to be. Not only due to lack of funds but also due to rarity of parts and what i have to work with already. like welded seat and roll cage mounts which are near impossible to cut out due to the awkwardness of the angles/spaces etc.
(Not a rant and not intended to be directed to anyone!, just me facing facts that it won't a brochure perfect car, lol )
At the end of the day it's YOUR Sport so I say do what you like to it.
Waaaaaay too many people start getting very upset when it comes to Sport's IMO.
I agree that Sport's are rare so should be kept original as possible, but seeing as they are 25 years old coming across parts is difficult.
I really hate the bitching that can go on regarding Sport's, tbh it's making me think twice about putting up a build thread for my Sport.

I think you have made excellenty progress with your car:thumb:
The main thing is that it has survived, I'm sure your fellow Sportsters will where we can, keep up the good work, what are you still lookingfor?;)

Just do what you want with it mate - At the end of the day it's an old Nova 'Base' that only so many were meant to have the 1300 with 40's and the single bench chair
Do what you want to it fella - At the end of the day it's only an old Nova and as Edd says it's YOUR car not anyone elses to be deciding what you do with it
Very best of luck with the rebuild mate! :)

Every Sport owner has a different view of how a Sport should be, I have more than one view. I like to see an original unrestored Sport but I also like a more motorsport themed one as this is what they were built for. I was going to have both with my new one an the Sport shell which was going to have period motorsport bits like Revo's, an SD cage, SCCR box & harnesses etc.
I like others am not picking fault, just offering advice to help fellow Sport owners, this I suppose could be taken the wrong way.
The rear seat situation, tbh I wouldnt bother changing it as it wont be quite right and the 60:40 is perfectly acceptable.
At the end of the day it is still a Sport and they are only bolt on bits that can be changed as and when the right bits come along at the right price.

Sorry mate, jus re-read my post above and it sounded like it was a rant. i assure you it wasn't directed at anyone at all. just me reflecting over the work completed so far thinking that it never be what it could/ maybe should be.
Thats life i suppose. It will just be nice to be able to start and drive it :thumb:
