I know they don't fit but can they be made to fit or is it a bit pikey, shaving bits off? Is it a lot or a bit? Or shall I wait until a I findsome Sr steelies?

I mean 256mm brakes btw

there are 2 sizes of 3 spoke. the wider ones fit over 236mm ate calipers (astra3) but not 256mm ones.

get some 6j14 cav/veccy rims, they'll fit then

Seem to remember a thread a little while ago saying that you have to trim the caliper and use 5mm spacers.

I thought it might be a mil or two, but I'll wait, hopefully some reasonably priced steelies will turn up soon

Theres about 1mm or two to come off. I done it, and they were fine.

Changing the calipers now ive got some bigger wheels though, the cut bit looked funny.

I'm sure i've read somewhere that the wider width 3 spokes fit over rarer 20 x 256mm calipers and discs. (found on tigras)

i think its the 236 ate's as i've seen some 3 spokes on a mk3 astra

Mike, there were two widths of 256mm disc iirc. More common is the 24mm width disc, but some tigras ran 20mm thick discs, thus the calipers and retainers were thinner. I'm sure someone on here managed to fit a set of three spokes over a set of the tigra brakes, with new discs and pads. Old age means i've forgotten who it was!

5.5J rims and above is what you want to run with 2.0 16v discs and calipers etc :) If thats any use lol

as above, they need shaving, i drove for probably a year about 20k with shaved calipers and no problems.

i was far from happy doing it, but it was am emergency

The 3 spokes also came in different offsets. They were made with a different offset to compensate for the late spec Nova's that had ATE calipers fitted!
Think they were ET47.5. SO this combined with a spacer might make it possible for the 256mm brakes?

I'd try 256 x 20mm set up from a Tigra, it uses the caliper part off a gsi caliper so its alot smaller. I think with this set up a small amount taken from the caliper and spacers you would be ok

Thanks to all think I'm going to put up a wanted add for some steelies, it was just a short term measure to get some better brakes on
