View Full Version : XE twisted in bay?
Right ever since ive fitted my XE ive had numerous problems as im sure youve seen in my other threads lol but one problem that ive had is a vibration/whineing between 1200-1700rpm in 3rd 4th and 5th gear coming from near the exhaust tunnel it sounded like the gearbox diff was going. Anyway yesterday i had it on a ramp and it looks like the rear box mount is being pushed right over to the passenger side causing the metal bracket to touch it an cause the vibration anyone had these problems before? im using the proper mount kit and rear spacer too but it just dosent look like its spaced enough i could get around it by sheveing the edges off the ally inside te rear mount but is this safe?
Any help appreciated.
erm i know you said it is the right mount kit but is it for a nova or a corsa. the only reason i ask is the front one on the drivers side is diffrent and may lead to the full engine sitting on the lob. erm if the mount is to wide i think you would be better whipping it out locking it in a vice and shaving a sliver off with a flapper disk on a 4 inch angle grinded safer then atacking the gear box.
Yea defo a nova mount kit mate. Yea i was gonig to say i meant the actual rubber mount not the bracket on the box lol but is it safe to shave a bit off the ally in the center?
you running a diff spacer?
Have you got the 3 spacer plates fitted on the right sides? (2 on 1, 1 on tother)

i wouldnt reccomend(sp) it. i really cant think of any other way round it unless like adem said the spacer are wrong. dont you no have to noch part of the mount aswell the clear the spacers

Assuming Adams theory isnt wrong, then you should be able to shave some material & then repack the other side with a washer (assuming a bolt passes through it).
Get a pic up is the best way to get correct advice.

Yea alan running spacer between gearbox and bracket.

In my kit ad i got the drivers mount and just 1 gearbox spacer of 10mm thick steel with longer bolts to suit is this right? ive seen the ones your on about though.

did you grind the bit out of the nova mount where the 3rd lug sits presuming that you are useing a 3 bolt spacer kit and have you the 2 plates on the correct side of the mount? you should have 3 plates.
also what mounts are they because i found when i used my valvers .com mounts that they have 3 holes one pair is for mounting an 8v the other for a 16v but i ended up using it in the 8v holes as i found it sat alot better in the bay
