I have been told the small canister behind the front wheel arch (Pass side) is a carbon canister.

What does it do?

Do i need it?

How do i remove? (If not needed)

Thanks. :thumb:

It saves the ozone layer and baby seals. Leave it in.

If you really want to remove it (I did with mine as it's not used on the current engine) you need to disconnect all of the pipe work - blocking off the one that goes to the vacuum valve (this lets the fumes into the inlet when the engine is not at idle).

You'll then need to trim back the tank vent pipe, you should take this back to where the filler neck is, run it up and over the top of the filler pipe - this stops any liquid making it out of the vent and also means the fumes are a long way from the engine bay.

Lot of effort if it's currently in and working ok tbh I'd work round it. Never caused me much bother with getting bumper on and off.

It only gets in the way if you want to remove the bumper irons, you can remove the bumper leaving the irons in place..

But you if do remove it, Phazers post is spot on.
