Hi

Does anyone know where I can get one of these, as Vauxhall say not one dealer in the whole country have any, and unipart dont do them either.

Would appreciate it, as I'm a bit stuck now.

Its for a E16SE

Cheers

either get it backordered, or just use exhaust jointing paste on the old one.

dont use exhaust jointing paste before the cat, try auto vaux !

if it has an egr it should have a cat, should it not ?:thumb:

e16se is a no cat engine.. when people fit carbs or bodies, they blank it off

i blanked mine off on a mildly tuned motor. just get a 3mm plate, cut it to shape, drill 2 holes and seal it back on to the inlet. you will then need a small blanking plug for the vacuum hose from the inlet iirc. use some silicone sealer to seal the plate with.

browney-you can use exhaust sealer before a cat aslong as your pixxed off enough with a funking blow and nothing else sorts it!! lol. or use silicone sealer, thats a hot tip.;)

Have thought about sealing it, but read that you have to delete the egr in the ecu?

Thanks for the fast responses by the way :)

Im sure on the e16se the ecu will cope with the loss itself.

So will it run better without it?

So will it run better without it?

depends on if your engine is std or seriously modified

ECU will cope fine with it, not as if its electronic EGR is it? Just blank it.

could blanking it all off make the car fail on its emissions in the mot?

Nope.

No,not an electronic EGR, operated by a vacum pipe, I'll give it a go when I get the engine back together, cant lose anything.

Cheers guys! :)

tbh i dont think you would gain much from doing it as the EGR is only open on idle to control the NOx content.

Will it not idle as well without it? A good idle is important to me as it was idling badly when I bought it and its sorted now.

If you blank it off right and sort the vacum pipe then yes will idle fine.

heres my old one, notice in the top right of the pic which vacuum pipe is blocked off.
