will a mk2 bumper fit striaght on to my mk1?

i've managed to fit one on, although u need mk2 bumper irons. There is a gap of about an inch left where the wings would come round and the mk2 grille would go under the lights.
u can fix it by tilting the bumper up if ya want. I'm in the process of tilting mine and making a custom grille out of my mk1 grille. i'll post a pic when it's done, but i've not really done anything to the exterior of my car before. so it'll prolly suck (gave it it's first wash yesterday after 6 months).
