i was told not to get the 7 degree one

hmm, why were that?

does the 7 degree manifold have any gains apart from more room at the bulkhead and would it affect the floats or anything else?

carbs need to be flat

carbs need to be flat

thought so, i need a straight manifold then

why do they make them then!?

why do they make them then!?

just looked at the engine, the inlet ports are facing up slightly does the 7 degree manifold go on so the carbs sit flat?

Why bother with 40s?? You probably wont see any real gains and your consumption wont be as good...

45s are better by far - 40s tend to run out of steam at around 160 ish...

As stated 40's are a bit small for a xe.45's ftw!!! Think the 7deg manifold is for some rear wheel drives

40's on a 2.0 Xe = same peak power as std but more midrange torque.

iv got 40's sitting about so why not use them. Im not trying to make it the fastest nova just want to scare saxos an such like

You do know you will need some sort of dizzy setup or ignition only engine management dont you... the std xe management wont cope/run the spark right without the inlet side of things

yeh got all the ignition. I had the carbs on a 8v engine thats why i need a manifold for the xe

If you arent able to 'scare saxos' with a standard XE something is seriously wrong!

I really wouldnt bother!

sell the 40's and put 100 quid with what u get and you should find a set of 45's.

might sell them then. I was only using them as i had them sat in the garage.

YOU GET BIG FIRE IF THERE NOT FLAT

cav fire FTW lol

im guessing the 7 deg mani is used for fitting in kit cars and the like? where the engine doesnt sit flat? cos afaik they sit flat in mantas.

can be used for throttlebodys :)

iv got the manifold on just need some 45's now but iv noticed the hole for the servo pipe is only 1/8 bsp an the one on the old manifold is 3/8. Will this work ok?

Obviously not because its a different thread.
Either get a 1/8 threaded union, or redrill the hole and get it tapped to take 3/8

i ment is 1/8 big enough or will it restrict the flow.

Should be fine. Thats all im using on mine

I really wouldnt bother!

Stripped VTS will keep up with an xe nova, theyre 140bhp aint they?

Having said that, I know of about 3 real VTS ssaxos, rest are 1.4's with badgeslol

130 bhp and they dont keep up untill to you get to a corner , lol misses brother had one for ages , nova would leave it in straight lines , but not have a chance in the corners ,

but very quick little std cars though

would rather the 106 gti :)

the 1.6 16v is 120bhp, a stripped VTS wouldnt stand a chance in a straight line.

It also has around 105 ish lb/ft torque, against the mighty 150 ish of the XE

7 degry manifolds are used on rwd as with some gear boxes the xe needs to be mounted on a 7 deg angle think its the ford box, wouldnt bother with the 40s would sell them and go for 45s
