He's bought this (http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9399)

Nice enough example. I know the lad he bought it from. Can't help thinking he's being a tad optimistic with the power figures. Or am I wrong?

It's running on R1 carbs with megajolt ignition, should have around 190hp in a 900kg shell. That's around 210hp/tonne, the same as a new Focus RS

yes hes very optimistic. 170 if he's lucky, unless he has a nutter spec head and cam setup...

a little but theres a lad on here with that set up with 180 odd so maybe not that far out

with headwork, cams and a proper exhasut id say 190 is possible but probably not for long before the bottom end let go

mates mini. he ended up fitting cams and a few other bits and saw 174bhp. i went with him when he had it done.

Surely a standard C20XE bottom end could handle that  although ARP rod bolts may be a wise investment.

my 196 bhp xe had a std bottom end did go through 4 though but it was abussed went to every meet at york raceway for 4 years and also reglar at the pod and a few track days so was to be expected 4 engines in 5 years

also had no limiter was funny watching the rev counter on the digis flash then changing gear lol

as said, they'll handle it - but for how long ? remember XEs are tired old engines at best now

personally id rather build one properly first time then replace the bottom end every few months

BMX, the Slots will probs be up for grabs as they were only ever on there to keep the car rolling. I'll ask.

Maybe they are. Tbh the last owner was a bodger. He produced the lamps and we had to make brackets for them.

So he said they were E28. Maybe he got that wrong too. I just do what I'm told.

Your pic reminds me of KC Daylighters. lol

Nah L33. A's rock. I see the appeal too!

Mayhem, it probably will get some, but we like our cars to handle also ;) lol
As said, those Slotmags were put on by the previous lad to keep it mobile.

The pics flatter it IMO. It's had more than it's share of patches and the paint job is ropey, mostly down to where it has reacted with glue? or more than likely rust caused by the old vinlyl roof. lol

It will come up nice though. :) Sounds lovely on the twin 45's.

in that case why bother with a manta A.. manta B handles way better:p
they look great on ats classic's in 8x13. (i wont bother by saying that they need 175-50-13 on them lol)
