If i was to get a qoute for a C20XE in my 1.2i sr what would be the best way about it?
Like what details do i put in? If i put my information in will display as a 1.2
Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question but i am still quite young.

To make sure its all above board and legit you will need to phone companies if you want a quote for that car so you can declare everything that has been done and the insurer can rate it accordingly.

this is definitely the best way. quotes will vary from company to company and it will take a bit of time on the phone to talk through the modifications with each company.

I have never looked into this but as above i would imagine nearly all companies would want you to be at least 19 if not 21 and have some ncd or driving experience i.e past your test more than a year ago and being a regular driver either in your own car or as a named driver.

You dont 'put details in', you pick up your phone and call a specialist insurer. Website insurers are tailored for standard UK cars, not engine swapped cars.

I do not really want to give out the names of our competitors. Unfortunately my company have a minimum criteria to be aged over 19 with a full 2 years driving experience, we are a specialist insurer.

Google "performance car insurance" and similar titles and you will get a load of names popping up mate :thumb:
Or try your local brokers as they may have deals with certain insurance companies for your situation if it goes ahead.

A few of the comparison sites will let you put in modifications, including non-standard engines. Money supermarket is one, I CBA to find any more.
Try it, but follow up any interesting quotes with a phone call.
TBH, chances are you're going to get raped on an XE at 18.
Valued at £3k
Agreed value, or purchase value? There's a massive difference.
As Ollie said, its a ringding thing. Even websites that allow engine swaps online and give you a quote have small print somewhere that says "subject to further details", i.e. they ring you up afterwards to discuss.

God knows jack, I said its worth £3k, she said ok lol
That'll be purchase value then, doesn't really affect what you get in the event of a claim unfortunately.

They may be the your only bet! Blinding price there.. check everything carefully, get the quote in writing and see how long it is valid for..You see some horror stories about certain insurers not honouring their quotes so tread carefully.

nova1992, get used to the rampant 60-odd ld/ft of torque and 55 bhp from your 1.2 first, then in a couple years think about a legal C20XE swap. my little 1200 is good enough for me, and in a good mood gives great mileage. get some weight stripped out of it though, trust me it makes a difference.

Taking anything out cant be done at 17, ive tried to insure it with no back seats etc:(
But taking weight out makes a big differance to mine:thumb:
