Ive got a 4 -1 manifold for my GTE, im getting a 'fast road' cam next weekend and also getting the head ported, polished and skimmed.
Has anybody had this done or know what increase in power i should be lucking at?
I want to keep up with VTS's lol:thumb:

if the manifold is a good one, the cam is a useful spec (<288deg) and the head work is to a good , maybe blueprinted standard then once its ran-in and setup on a dyno or rollers with a full exhaust system you should expect your near VTS 120bhp.

the manifold is 2nd hand but in good condition, im not sure about the cam, getting it out of the small ads in total vauxhall, suppose i will find out but the head work is being done by a reputable engine company in oldham. i suppose all i can do is try... cheers dude

doubt it would keep up with one, maybe a shot of nitrous?

failing that, strip the car to bare minimum and get the suspension set up spot on then maybe you might stand a chance in the twistys. them damn vts's are quick!

i like having rear seats for the baby seat :-), my suspension is "spax"ified and polybushed at the minit and im scared of nitrous :-( i dont understand why them daft french things shift so well??? im not having it that 20bhp does that, ive been embarrased a few times when ive tried to overtake. grrrrrr

you may have a chance if you swap the engine for a 1.6 16v and the inlet wasnt restricted. think you will struggle with the 8v unless you stick carbs on and spec the engine up heavily.

In a luke warm engined modded GTE, keep dreaming boss.

My 127bhp 1.6 16v was quite a good match for a vts.

Unlikely, you will have to spend serious-ish money to get the 8v to beat it.

Either that or sabotage his engine?lol

I can't see an 8v on std injection keeping with a VTS tbh. They do 60+ in 2nd gear FFS.

16XE with powerbox FTW. Sorry

[edit] With nitrous maybe.

cheers for the input guys, so overall im not gonna keep up with a VTS without a turbo or a 16v? :( im still gonna do the cam, 4 branch and head work just for a bit more ooomphhh, just steer clear of them nasty little saxos.
wots the deal with nitrous? is it readily available to refill the bottle?

have a look on here... http://www.nitrousoxidesupplies.co.uk/automotive/

fairly easy to install, a wet kit is what you would want as it will inject fuel along with the nitrous. wouldnt go more than 50bhp jets, even that might be pushing it for the 1600cc.

just steer clear of them nasty little saxos.

You don't need to steer clear, just don't try and race lol

And I don't remember my standard 1.6 8v being far off your 16v?

my nova is a 1.6 8v its ported and polished, head skimmed, piper fast road cam, 4branch....and its a weber carb and i was able to hump a vts twice a couple of weeks ago. so you will more than likely be able to beat a vts . and lets be serious now most people who drive saxos are neds that cant drive anyway.
