This is my 1984 nova swing 993ohv. I got this a number of years ago as a non running wreck with hellish bodywork and lots missing. It had been chavved up and had different engines in it. I have restored it, new doors, wings, sills front panel and major repairs to floors and boot. A lot of work has gone into it mechanically and this is the first winter I have had no problems. I got it published in practical classics in Oct 2009 and i think it must be one of the first Novas they have featured. I am really pleased considering what a bucket it was. I use it everyday and have no interest in a modern computer controlled eurobox!!!

This is my 1989 SR bought a couple of years ago off ebay. It was more or less in this condition except a few holes in the wings. There were carb problems, starter motor was goosed and a spark plug flew out the head! With these things fixed, although it is not a concours condition car, it is original and drives really nicely, great torque.

I mentioned to my dad that i was looking for 1 more Nova (meaning an early example) and surprise surprise in Novemebr I visited him, he opened the garage and here was this car. he got it as an MOT failure. the headlight was loose so as he is a welder I asked him to look for any dodgy bits on the car and weld them up, I am sure he was glad he bought the car now! may as well get the shell solid before I do anything with it. At the moment i am unsure whether to sell the car to raise funds for an early one or to convert it to a MK1 or to just make it as it would have been in Aug 1993 ( I am too old for big alloys, blackout windows etc). Suppose I will decide in April when I get it from my dad. (unless someone tempts me with an excellent early one before then.)

Anyway, hope these are of a little interest.

yeah, my fav, earlier the better for me and novas, looking for another early one but they are all in england, too far to look and taking a chance, too expensive to get transported without looking first.

Good base for a Nova Sport replica that! I'm doing my Mk1 Nova up to look like an early Nova

SR style kinda - Got the early SR/Sport interior, early front end etc

Will look the boy!

My Dad was asking me if you knew anyone in Aberdeen who works in Nationwide and has/had an L reg Nova GSi ?

marc69

It took a lot ot time to get it back to original swing, although i thought at first it was purley a SE for sales, apparently vauxhall used this SE as an excuse to homolgate the nova for sport, the papers then only had to be extended for the nova sport which was the idea!

You could easily get a mk2 white shell (lots on ebay)and convert it to a sport replica. A few body bits and bumpers/grille(£120-150), stickers (£140) and all taht remains is the interior, although have seen some "sports" on ebay with mk2 interior. have you got docs for a sport?

No, there are few novas here. there is a J reg GSI look a like, blue I think, a pink colour coded car (assume a girl owns it) and mine taht I have seen. Most folk just think it is an old vauxhall. Well I suppose it is!

Nope I had the real thing but sold it due to rot

Kept the full Sport interior and the Twin 40's and Irmscher inlet

cool, you should just make a pure sport replica even with a standard engine, just to look cool, or give me the interior and I will do it!

Incidently, one thing I couldn't find for my car without spending the earth was a front carpet. Mine has a console so is different from sport but because it is dark brown people assume it will all be sport money. I did however make one when i found a matching house carpet but at some point hope to find an original.

Nah I'd rather wait and get the real thing...Again lol

Keeping the interior though mate incase I do get another Sport

I also need a brown carpet to complete my interior; With or without the centre console not too fussed

Quite right, bits are getting so rare, I remeber dumping brown stuff 12 years ago and a complete 1985 cream/beige Luxe interior to fit grey, now i have several grey interiors lying about and struggled to get the brown for my car and for the next project i will be looking for the cream Luxe interior. Not as desirable as the brown but are any left!

Anyway, best of luck for the sport, best start saving your pennies.

I don't have a Sport mate lol Got enough bits to make a very very good replica though ;)
