Hola everyone. I have sold the Scooby doo, and moved on to the next car on the ten cars I wanna own.

Whilst I enjoyed the Impreza, I had it for 2 years and in fairness never expected to keep it much longer, but as it was due an MOT soon and my insurance was also due in March and was getting silly (It had gone up from £440 last year to a renewal of £525) I had hit that point where it was time to sell or spend money on it.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v126/RJM25R/AAIPHONE071.jpg

I had decided to sell and bank the money, as I had bought a bigger house in October and fancied a kit car in the summer when my garage is built.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v126/RJM25R/cos017.jpg

So, I sold my Impreza!

I then bought this:

That is lovely, i'd love a Sierra Cosworth, wanted one ever since i went in my mates dad's one. It was red, apparently very rare to find them in that colour. Whether that is true or not i dont know.

Very, very tasty. You're a lucky bloke to find that particular Cosworth; I'd have traded the Subaru for it as these cars are getrting harder and harder to find in that condition for reasonable money. I missed the boat when 2.8 Capris were a cheap car and I regret it now that prices are stratospheric for what is really a very crude car! I shall keep my eyes peeled for it as I work in the centre of Oldham and you're not too far away if you're in Royton :)

Well, sold the cossie and bought another RWD car.

More fun to drive than the cosworth (albeit at much lower speeds) as im not afraid to abuse it, plus I'm not worried about parking anywhere. Classic insurance at £152, leather, stainless zorst etc......

Yes I have after the girl owner put in diesel and I drained the tank put in £20 unleaded and told to take out of for a blast to clear the diesel and yes it did handle well and was rather quick but suits a driver with long hair

1.8 130bhp, and it would absolutely destroy any factory Nova, and (except in a straight line) would run away and hide from an xe nova (I was shocked by this actually!)

To read Nova owners talk about lack of image is bizarre!

Kinda defeats the idea of having a cheap RWD fun car with cheap insurance really.... Once you go down the 'charged route you're into non-classic insurance as the specialists don't wanna touch 'em when they're modified.... And in honesty, if you can keep momentum, its reasonably quick (but if you bear in mind The other cars I've owned/had as company cars, nothing feels "fast" to me anymore. My old impreza was probably as fast point-to-point as you can realistically go lol!

i hope it hasn't got the horrid mk1 alloys on it, my dad loved mine reminded him of his old lotus, only difference being he didn't have to stop every 10 mins to fill it back up with water and let it cool down lol

until i blew the top hose during some spirited driving, i refilled and bleed the cooling system loads of times but the fecker still tried to overheat wasn't till i flushed the whole system it got back to normal, wont make that mistake again

Good news then, you bought just at the right time!. Take it you didn't fancy storing it for a while? As would have thought good ones will be worth a fair bit in years to come!

Good news then, you bought just at the right time!. Take it you didn't fancy storing it for a while? As would have thought good ones will be worth a fair bit in years to come!

Well it depends on your interpretation of "a fair bit"

I paid £4400 for the car and sold it for £6300 so in theory made £1900. I had to insure it for two years (£400) and pay for a battery (£55) and oil, oil filter, fuel filter every 6 months (£100 in total) plus road tax @ £420 for 2 years so I made just over £900. If I kept it say another 4 years, it may go up a couple more grand and I wouldn't have to tax it or service it, but I'd have to insure it at the very least so that's another £800 out of any potential profit, then theres secure storage somewhere to pay for as I wasnt willing to leave it on the drive (they tend to get lifted as they break for decent money) plus there's the worry of any "normal" deterioration over the next say 4 years, and the fact that there were more saffs built than any other variation which makes them less loved than the escort or 3 door, which really limits the appreciation unless you were going long-term, say locking it up somewhere for ten years and rolling it out then.... But there's no guarantee it'll be worth big money. Mk2 rs2000 go for £8k plus if they're split mint and they're far rarer than saff cossie's

There's still saffs out there at good prices not selling....

The biggest issue was dead simple. Why bother? There's faster ways to make money!

I buy and sell medium to high end watches so disposable cash is more useful than it being locked away in a car!

Anybody want a Tag Heuer/Omega/Breitling/Ball/Longines/?????? Watch?

Actually, the mx5 hit the roads in 1988, only 5 years after the nova but was actually designed in 1984, and prototyped in 1986! Not as much between them as you'd think!!!

Well I still have the Mazda but with my departure from VW getting closer, I bought myself an Eos.

The Mazda is great fun being RWD but two seats makes it impractical when my wife drives a fiat 500!

Anyway I bought a 2.0 tdi in silver essence, with fsh 24000 miles, iPod connector, cruise and all the eos stuff as standard like sensors, all electrics etc. Most importantly it has had the roof seals replaced under warranty and Krytox treatment so no leaks!

New alloys, a badgeless front grill and a private plate were fitted and with a 2.0 tdi engine, a remap may be on the cards!
