Yeah, you havent got enough cars!! lol

Says it is not a GTE shell

It would qualify as an 8v GTE in that case.
16v's have a different tunnel for the gear selector & exhaust & other minor differences. The best hot hatch Vauxhall have made IMO.

That'll be the Daewoo (if you remember the TV ads).

If the car in front is a Toyota, the car behind is an astra. lol

Tbh that's a awesome find if you into mk2 astra's.

Sadly I don't think I'll ever find a new Nova shell.

Yeah totally flattering cars to drive. Stop on a sixpence, have oodles of turn in grip (coming from a Nova) & just generally fill you with confidence to the point that you turn them on their roof & block an A-road.

Ouch,is that the voice of experience??
Incidently the lad who bought my 2.0 8valve GTE put that through a hedge and totalled it.............

deawoo is easy to spot.. different firewall, different interiour light switch location etc etc

Nice motor though, where's it now ?

bazil

fsj mate, its sitting next to my novas with no engine innit, a crank bearing went and lodged fragments in the oil pump seizing it and scoring the crank, poor guy waited about 4 years to get the car build costing almost 8 grand and it only lasted about 350 miles, he was so gutted it sat for two years before i pulled the engine out for him and its away to get rebuilt with an early xe crank in it, sport off here knows this motor too and the guy who built it.

shell on ebay belongs to me now;) do you think 770 is a reasonable price as i dont know how much they where from vauxhall? ive been told around 1200 so im happy with that

My mate was gonna bid on it but he missed it by 5 mins!
He has a mk2 champion and it needs both rear arches doing inner and outer and also sills could do with some attention and other bits here and there, he's been quoted £650 for the work so £770 for a mint shell is cheap I'd say ;)

Edd

770 is a good price imo, would of gone for more if it was a 16v shell tho

youre right there mate, probly would have gone past a grand, but there is only 2 small differences between the 8v and 16v shell so didnt really bother me. keep a look out on the parts for sale thread as im probly going to be getting rid of one of my nova shells as i havent the room anymore;)

Hey folks,

I was looking for a nova shell around 1996, spent hours phoning anybody and everybody, eventually got a number for the factory in Luton.
The guy there was really helpful and gave me a few number of companies that bought up the factory stock of parts.
One of them was Fintona Autospares in Co Tyrone.
When I called them they had 3 hatchbacks - (2 non sunroof) at £825 and 1, 2 door saloon at £425 + plus VAT.
When I spoke to them they said that they reckoned they had the last brand new unused shells and when they were gone they were gone.

So if anybody is looking for a vauxhall shel they may be worth a try. Not expecting anything like a nova but they may have more modern stuff.
I will look out their number and post later.

No need they're all gone!!!lol

I think the last one was built into a BMW Dakar Yellow 2.0 Turbo, and the first Nova with a 6 speed box. Had Clio 16v wheels on a Q plate.

lets face it lads, there all gone, theres a slight possibility that someones got one stored in the **** end of spain, but you will never find it. closest you can get is getting the shell rust free then getting it dipped and e-primed, just as good

........Well not quite, I actually have a 2 door saloon in transit primer, no bonnet, boot, door or front wings. No ID brand spanking.

I bought it in 1997 but done nothing with it. Just the usual, life gets in the road, no time, no garage you know the score.
I had done a few hillclimbs in my brothers 1293 mini and fancied using my nova at the time. But the shell turned out to have seen better days and I decided to not use it.
I then went looking for new shell and found the 2 door saloon.
I gave Safety Devices a call and they offered to find out about the saloon shell. They came back to me after speaking to Vauxhall, the saloon shell was marginally heavier but the rear end was a lot stiffer due to the construction.
They did speak about doing a semi-sponsorship deal but I couldn't take them up on the offer due to weekend work committments. Hey ho
But I did buy the new shell in the hope some day I would be able to build it...................... 13 years later it is sitting on a trolley in a storage shed at one of my works factories.

I know some will be saying what a dcik but time ticks by regardless and at the time saloons were like ladas to some people.
I would like to take some credit for thinking they would become cool at a later date but I'm not that clever.

So there you have it, there is a least new shell still left.
