guys
have a nova with a c20xe, its been fine but when working on the car the otherday i noticed the garbox earth had nearly worn through, i cut the tag off and squashed the braids between a cuple of washers and bolted it tight,
drove to my friends house thought nothing more of it. when i came to leave i turned the key, and just got click click click click... doesnt even try to turn over, and wont jump start either, we bump started it and it went fine, but when i turn it off again, nothing!!
what could be the problem? the connection is still good, to the chassis and to the gearbox, it had a new battery about a month ago

please help, im at my wits end with this thing!!

if its the cack standard earth wire thats nearly warn through it wont be charging correctly and my bet would be flat battery my let just clicks when its flat

change the earth and charge the battery

i didnt replace it, but its making a good connection now, it wouldnt even turn over with a jump start.....

rock it in gear.

set fire to it ?

go what the starter? lol, rocked it in gear to no avail, and please dont tempt me, im about to.....

Put a jump lead on the gearbox, to the batt neg.
See if it turns over then.

If not then the starter is probably abit fooked.

as said, get an extra earth on it. my car and XE went crazy when i had earthing problems.

the standard weave earth straps break down and can look like there is a good contact but theres nothing
