View Full Version : Do You Believe In Spirits?

Well i've questioned this many times in my life and i've always said i think i do believe in it. Until what i've recently found out.

A few of my aunties on my mums side go to spiritualist churches now and then.
Not religiously like.

Anyways to the point...

My cousin moved into an apartment at Orient House in central Manchester a good 2 years ago or so.

At 1st he lived in a lower part of the building and this went on for a over a year with no problems then got a plumbing problem and got moved to the top floor in the building to a bigger room.

Ever since moving in to the bigger apartment he kept seeing a woman standing in the room by the entrance way. There is knocking on the living room door and other strange noises and whistles at times. He's not afraid of spirits as he's seen them before but he needed proof that he was seeing someone.

So he phoned the estate agent up and told them he kept seeing a woman and asked if they could find out if anyone had died. They phoned him back a week later saying a girl had died in his apartment room a month before he moved in.

A week before the girls 21st birthday.

Another strange thing was once he came home and said ''Honey I'm Home'' to his BF, (yes he is gay), but his BF wasn't in and got what sounded like a hello from behind him by the door.

He's only just thought to search the name of the girl when he had recieved post for her.
Next thing you know he messages me with a Remembrance Group on FB for a girl who from what we know so far matches.

The group says ''The postmortem has been carried out but at this stage appears inconclusive.''
Which we found weird aswell.

Anyways he's messaged the owner of the group to make sure it's the correct person before going any further.

The whole thing is a little freaky and had my hairs standing up on edge when he linked me to the group and stuff.
.................................................. ...............................................

Anyone on here had any experiences with this sort of stuff?

What are your views.

i saw a ghost once. i drove thru it on the road. i should be a sceptic on this subject, as i usually am about supernatural things, but i also know what i saw.

there are a great many things that cause this sort of perception, ie low frequency electrical waves etc. but i was in a car at 90mph on a country road & have driven the same road a few thousand times, but only once did i see it.

i hope not, it would cause way too much emotional suffering

i'm pretty certain i 'knew' the ghost i saw, but i never even considered telling her parents

Well in this case if the owner of the group comes back saying it's her then that would be pretty freaky because we would know for sure it was her etc...
I think my cousin would explain to the owner, which as far as i know isn't a family member but a friend and then leave it as that.

It's not up to or my cousins duty to tell her parents as it could go either way with the death only happening around september last year i think.

Obviously the parents could be up for getting any contact from her or could be wanting to let her rest...
Also as said ''The postmortem has been carried out but at this stage appears inconclusive.''
So the parents could be wanting any sort of answers. etc...

It's a tricky subject TBH.

Especially when you see all these american families on shows embracing spiritual contact.

..Twice saw a 'child size shadow thing' flit across the top of my stairs just after i moved house. What really chuffed me was a visitor who had no knowledge of it saw it as well. Might be natural rather than supernatural- but it is definitely there! These things tend to fade out with time like a tired battery, leading some people to believe the surroundings are absorbing data then replaying it back later on. The 'stone tape' theory. Sleep well everyone..

my girlfriends best friend was raped and murdered after a night out in her home town of paisley, two or three days later my girlfriend woke in the middle of the night to see her friend in the bedroom mirror, she then told my girlfriend details of the attack and said that they both new who the attacker was!

anyway after a couple of days telling her to go to the police she did and told them what her friend had said, the police said the information she told them was a new lead, six months later they caught the bas***d and it turned out to be a regular customer from the video shop they worked in together!

i still wish i took her home that night.

bazil, sorry to hear that dude.

if i saw something, then i would be a bit scared. but all this jibba habba when someone is contacting someone from the dead, can naff off IMO. there are many ways these days you can find out info about part relatives. if you are reading on someone specific. i think the person doing the reading is like derren brown. working of eye movments, body language and common things.

i dont believe it at all.

When I was a kid, one of the houses we lived in used to be an old mill. It was burned down hundred or so years ago, and rebuilt into 3 houses, one of which being ours. Our house was at the part of the mill which had a wooden wheel in the river. We always heard footsteps upstairs, steps coming down the stairs and often heard crying and whimpering from the main bedroom at the back of the house. Turns out, before the fire a 7y.o girl had fell into that wooden mill and died. Little sister used to proper freak me out, sitting in her room talking and playing with someone, but there was never there. She always used to say it was the 'little girl that came to visit'.
The neighbours never had any problems though, considering 2 people died in the fire.

Wierd stuff always goes on in my house, i can give a few examples

1 - One night my girlfriend woke up panicing, telling me that there was someone at the end of the bed, i woke up and looked, but i was half asleep, i remember seeing something dark in the shape of a person, but then went, havnt seen it since.

2 - Stuff frequently falls down, hitting the floor, the most convincing being my maglight randomly toppling over off my chest of drawers, while the both of us in the room, wathing tv about 7 foot away from it, was wierd!

3 - While watching TV one night, the wardrobe was open, in our view, and a sleeve on one of my jackets swung up, then fell back into position, we both witnessed it out of the corner of our eyes, my girlfriend (being a women) got worried, i shut the wardrobe, and carried on watchin telly!

It always happens in waves, never constantly, there will be a few days out of the period of a few months id say. But also its almost like you can feel the presence, even i find it hard to sleep sometimes. Its true what they say, almost as if your being watched, you can feel somethings there.

My opinion is, just get on with it and forget it, im not a true believer, well, its not that im not, its just, i got better things to worry about most of the time. As long as it doesnt hurt me or anyone close to me.

Only spirits I deal in are Vodka & Whiskey!

At the end of the day I haven't seen conclusive proof that they excist apart from the odd shady photo & video!!

If they are there then i'd happily eat my words, I have heard the odd knock but never seen anything.

What i find weird is, when you be the witness to some ones last breath, they do haunt you. Weird dreams, thinking you saw them when you didnt, things people say an your thinking "so & so used to say the before they died".

Its enough to turn some mentally fĂșcked up. Apparently.

lol, reminds me of the kreed kafer and rik eedles things on Most Haunted.

I don't believe in spirits as in self aware entities, or humans having spirits (sorry guys, we're just a bag of flesh and bones kept alive by bio electricity) - unfortunately when you die, you die, thats it. Game over, end etc. Thats also why I can't believe in a God in the religious sense.

However, I do believe in ghosts as energy entities, as someone already mentioned the stone tape theories etc. We're living in one giant magnetic field, logical sense is that a bio electric battery - i.e. a human being - could leave an imprint on that field.

Personally, I'd love to see a ghost. I'm absolutely fascinated by all that gubbins. Not saying I wouldn't sh!t myself if I did see one though lol

[edit]Did anyone see that show recently where a guy from Eastenders(?) investigated some paranormal stuff, including staying a night (or part of a night as he bailed it) in the Edinburgh Vaults? The sound recording had what appeared to be someone reading the last rights, yet the guy didn't hear a thing at the time. There was a bit on there where he went to see one of those mediums who said a few things about his family, his dead dad being a taxi driver etc - sorry, but it took me 30 seconds to google the guy's name and find out the exact information that the medium was supposedly "told by spirits" on wikipedia.

lol no way is a post like this up! theres so many dodgy ghost stories in my life its unreal lol

theres the one where a few mates decided to do a ouiji board, they recorded the whole thing on an old VHS camera, you can hear something saying "get out" or something like that lol all 3 of them ran leaving the camera behind, one nearly jumped out the window, since then something has been haunting the lad that had the flat, when i go round something always happens, things go missing, doors open and close, i've lost count the amount of times the toilet doors opened/closed on me while having a p*ss lol

Then theres my mum, who shares the same freaky sense as me, she walked into a house she was viewing and straight away asked "has someone died here" turns out the previous owner fell down the stairs and died:eek: the same spirit appeared in one of my dreams, i was watching through thier eyes, he walked up the stairs and was about to open my door and i woke up, the really freaky thing is as i woke up i heard my door click shut:wtf:

and i'm convinced theres something in the house i'm in now, but i don't think "it" knows its dead:tard: the lights seem to flicker, yet theres nothing wrong with the electrics, and i also woke up to a plate on the worktop that was just cleanly broken in two, i get a strange feeling everytime i go near the master bedroom, so i don't sleep in there, i have the smaller one lol

on a more serious note tho, there are spirits about.
never witnessed anything myself, but ive heard too many stories from family that lived in a particular house. about a woman in a white dress, looking after my sisters cot, some of the family even heard her "soothing" voice over the baby intercom, and my sister when she was old enough to speak asked where the woman in the white dress went as she couldnt see here anymore. too weird.

I love mediums

"You live in a house!! No? You live in a flat?! No?? Your Homeless?? Ah see Told you i'd know things about you"

"Your granny d.....o........"
"who?"
"OH it must be short for something, did you know anyone called gurtrude?"
"er... no"
"Well they were a friend of your Grnadmothers, she wants to say that she is happy"
"My grandmother is still alive"
"Other Grandmother??"
"Nanny?"
"YES!"

lol

Its mostly guesswork, and those who are always right have things hidden, at the end of the day We all know that energy cannot be destroyed so the energy that the human body has contained in it disperses in other means, the chemical energy becomes fertiliser (harsh but true!!) the electrical energy disperses as the brain shuts down, however HOW it disperses I have no idea, it could be considered a "Soul" or "Life force" however where it goes after that is a mystery! I dont think that it hangs about, energy always has something else to do, much more important then hanging about saying "BOO!!" to tourists 50 years down the line, or knocking on the walls 100 years later.

My missus is into all this, and im the polar opposite (Im not, and I would go out my way to disprove ghosts, afterlife is something to find out about when Im dead!)

I definately believe in 'something'. At my Mum's 1800s terraced house, many, many crazy things have happened. Too many to remember, let alone list.

I have two brothers and a sister, we have all always been aware of something at the top of the stairs and ever since being tiny, we have always looked up on the way past. Even until this day, I can't resist glancing up each time I pass. I have to pelt it down the stairs because I **** myself if I'm up there on my own.

One day I was helping my mum carry something upstairs and the laundry basket lid liften u and slammed twice in front of both of us.

The animals (dogs/cats) are always staring at things that aren't there.

The light always dims in the front room when my aunties and mum have their usual 'ghost' talks.

Things fall over, turn on or off, footsteps up and down stairs etc. I have lived there all my life (until last year) but although I'm used to it, I'm still scared to death. I hate being there alone.

When I went up to visit a few months ago, I was asleep and got shook awake. It wasn't a dream, I was fully conscious for a good 10 seconds (which felt like a lifetime) and it just wouldn't stop. When I was young, I had epilepsy but haven't had a fit since I was seven. I know it wasn't that.

Once I was changing the interior of my Nova and it was raining outside. I saw my Grandad's face in the mist on the glass. I got a call from my mum a couple of hours later saying that he'd collapsed and was taken to hospital, he died later that night  Love you Pops x I think he saved me in my crash :)

Possibly yes but...

Years back i done a luigy (sp???) board & a mate of mine Eggo (RIP  ) filmed it on a cam corder. Long story short, the board spelt a womens name & kept saying oranges. We were doing it on the site of a 1700 derelict farm house that used to have a train line running by it in the 1920 kinda era. Done the board, Eggo decides we dont need the whisky tumbler glass anymore so he goes to chuck it, but its all black & chared on the inside (was clean to start with) as he proceeds to lob it, it ripped his hand open like a razor blade, he drops the glass but its unbroken?

Freaked the fook out by now, we torch the board. One of the guys had bought a jerry can of petrol with him (as none of us wanted to take it back home after we used it!) petrol covered peice of ply wood, windless dry as fook summer night, it refused wouldnt light on fire.

By now were all kinda like :tard: with brown stains!

Anyway, we obviously all sat down, watched the video back an you can hear all manner of things (steam train, baby crying, wood being cut with axe kinda noise to name few) in the back ground? In one shot, theres massive bright white flash coming from another lads silver ring to the board?

Weeks later, Eggos house constantly stink of oranges his mum starts screwing at him about it thinking its candles or incense or some sh1t. He clocks on it must be the video so bums it off to another mates house. Day later he complains that his house fcuking stinks of oranges so he dumps the video into the canal.

2 or 3 years later, were all round a mates house as his dad was on holiday & the back door sounds like its being kicked, everyone tools up bursts out the back door an the luigy board is sitting in the garden.

Believe it or doubt all you want. I was one of the stupid cunts that opted to put his hand on the glass thinking nothing would ever happen.

Paragraph 2, Ashmore Lodge. Kinda indicates just how old the place actually might be.

A friend of mine took me to a Graveyard which has a crypt at the top of the little hill its on in Warwickshire in a place call Monks Kirby.

I took my digital camera and caught what i thought to be 'orbs' and heard a few things like a someone breathing (my mate heard this too) and also when i was with an ex girlfriend of mine we both heard someone groan in front of us when two more people were behind us.

Wanting more evidence I managed to get my hands on a night vision video camera with a torch, so armed with that i went up with two of my friends and one of my friends were taking pictures with the flash on which was causing the auto focus to **** up on my video camera, as i was standing next to the crypt he took a picture again and as that happened the camera i had went out of focus and there seemed to be something white flash across the viewfinder on the video camera, i thought it was just my breath or something being as it was cold but then just as that happened i looked down and with the naked eye i seen two orbs floating at the foot of my feet, i f*****g **** my self and trampelled on my friends that were standing behind me lol

Watching the footage back on the big tv you can just make out a figure that seems to 'run' or walk fast across the video camera shortly before and with this there is like interference with parrallel lines running down the screen shortly before seeing the orbs at my feet.

Shortly after this incident on the same night we decided to go back into the Graveyard, this time we walked to the left of the crypt, i was in the middle of the three. At this point my torch went off on the video camera and the battery light was flashes red saying it was very low and i was looking at the view finder cussing the battery lol I looked down to the right of me and there was just a bright white circle which didn't move which was probably around 200mm in diameter? my mate seen this too that i was standing next too and with this we all ran off lol

Watching the footage back you hear me swearing at the camera not understanding why it was flat when only 2mins ago it said 30mins of battery life left. You see the parallel lines again and with this you clearly see a white figure move fast from the left to the right of the camera which i didn't initially see before and me and my mate seen the bright white circle on the right of me.

But here goes, loads and loads of people have seen this footage time and time again even including my Mum etc but ..... I remember putting the tape into the boot of my car after i had filled the tape whilst i was down at the graveyard but as i got home i realised the tape wasn't in my boot when i got the camera out?! No one went in my boot at all after and i would of heard it drop on the floor being as the little pull in area at the graveyard is on gravel. I thoroughly searched my car lifting the seats out etc and to this day the tape is missing which I am very annoyed about.

I defo believe in the supernatural, Im sorry but there are just too many unexplainable things in this world and I cant believe we just die and that is it.

People that play with ouijja boards are fools. I think my mum has been telling me since the day i was born not to mess with them.

I saw the programme with Joe Swash, bit crap until that last bit at the end.

When my stepdad was about 8 his sisters boyf went crazy and kidnapped her and drove them both into a tree. She broke her neck and was put on life support but died a while later. My stepdad used to lay in bed at night and hear her life support machine beeping and making the breathing noise and its proper messed him up.

I defo believe in the supernatural, Im sorry but there are just too many unexplainable things in this world and I cant believe we just die and that is it.

That's what science is for lol Think back a few centuries, everyone thought the world was flat and they jailed the bloke that told them it wasn't.

Just because you can't explain something doesn't mean it's ghosts or supernatural stuff - I can't explain some of the things I see on here but I don't think PNG is possessed....

the flat earth thing was actually caused by serious devout christians who were trying to believe every word of the bible as being the truth, ie. the world was created in 4004 bc & noah's flood killed off the dinosaurs

you must consider that scientists can't explain the hiccough (hiccup)

People that play with ouijja boards are fools. I think my mum has been telling me since the day i was born not to mess with them.

I saw the programme with Joe Swash, bit crap until that last bit at the end.

When my stepdad was about 8 his sisters boyf went crazy and kidnapped her and drove them both into a tree. She broke her neck and was put on life support but died a while later. My stepdad used to lay in bed at night and hear her life support machine beeping and making the breathing noise and its proper messed him up.
Afraid so. When you die, you die. I don't quite understand why most humans have this inability to comprehend death and other related biological functions. The life support thing is merely the mind remembering sounds, especially something as tragic as that. Same as people being haunted by screams of the dying.

The Joe Swash program could easily have been faked. Part of me wanted to believe it, but logic states eitherit was misinterpreted sounds from elsewhere, or added in post-production as they realised the entire show up to that point had been a complete steaming turd full of weirdos (the medium and guy who believed he had sex with ghosts to name but two) and very little actual paranormal evidence. They even had to go back to the 70s "bill" ghost which has been covered countless times and debunked too in an attempt to get some decent tales.

As for the ouijja board thing (LMFAO @ luigi board! Mama mia! lol) I wouldn't touch one as I don't want to tempt fate lol.

Maybe people who believe are more likey to see these sorts of things, as it makes there mind more susceptible to 'play tricks' thinking that something might be there, where as a sceptic might not notice anything.
Thats true IMO. I've been out with people who hear odd noises or see strange things an instantly its a supernatural occurance. No, its the wind/heating/trick of the light/something else.

dam. well it worked.

I definetly believe in all that. I would love to go to Edinburgh and have a ghost walk around all the vaults but id be scared s*itless if I heard even the slightest noise. I know a lot is probably all in the mind but it cant all be surely.

They can't explain everything but that's no reason to assume that everything that can't be is somehow to do with spirits/ghosts/undead etc :thumb:

I did a Ouija board with my mother about 7 years ago.
She had previously done them and knew all the correct things to say to do with not letting all the spirits through etc... and closing off the connection properly.

I contacted my friend who had died when i was 10 and it came back with 1 or 2 things that my mum never knew.
Was mad!
Didn't scare me though.
Never had any problems since.

mike, tell me to piss off if im out of order asking, but how long after the weegy board did your mate eggo and the other one die ?
and again tell me to piss off if im out of order asking how they suicided.
just curious after reading about that girl that had her name spelt died shortly after the board.

friend of mine was telling me about a time that his parents used a weegy board and it spelt out the name of thier pet dog, which unknown to them was actually missing at the time. they managed to find it luckily, but probably wouldnt have without being made aware by the board. strange work at bay those things.

2 & 3 years after.

Eggos mum found him hanging from a noose out the loft hatch when she got home from work one evening, and my other mate Deeley couldnt hack life anymore & hung himself from a water pipe that crosses a canal. The day that happened his twin sister metally died deep down inside.

I'm very sorry to hear that mate. I don't want to say too much on this matter either mate but I personally think that it is a bit coincidental that 2 people out of the group of 12 have taken there own lives.

Oh forgot to tell you all...

The owner of the group got back to my cousin and this is how the convo went in reply to what my cousin told him...

Dead Girls Best Mate:
Hi,
Now this is not something I was expecting (especially since today is my birthday!!)
''Dead Girl Name'' was one of my best friends from when we were at Durham University together. She was certainly living in Manchester when she died but I don't know her address.
I find this most intriguing. What does the woman you see look like?
I have to admit it sounds very like ''Dead Girl Name'' to be sticking around - she studied philosophy and was an ardent disbeliever of religion and the afterlife!! I hope that she isn't causing you too much of a disturbance!!
Let me know your thoughts. :)

My Gay Cousin:
Firstly..... happy birthday! Maybe it was ''Dead Girl Name'' makin me messege u today so that she could say happy birthday to you..... spooky eh?
well..... im not a religious person at all. I just see things now and again. lol. But i only ever see her in the entrance way to my flat... in the corner near the boiler room. Dont know if thats a message of some sort or if that is where she actually died.
Don't know if this means anything to you or if you can find out for me..... When im in the living room.. theres sometimes this smell of fish. like... really strong. But its not anyone cooking cos it appears and dissappears. It also travels. I had a few mates over and i smelt it but no one else could. and then i stopped smelling it and then the person next to me could smell it.. and so on.
Sounds strange but i immediatly thought of if she worked with anything to do with fish... even if it was a weekend job on the fish counter at a shop or somethin.
also.... one night i went to bed and then the next morning... the bed was about 2ft away from the wall. There is no way i could have moved about that much in my sleep to move it as it is wedged against the wall with a load of stuff under it.
Nothin like that has ever happened to me before tho.
When i first saw her i new she had long dark hair but thought she was more like early 40s. But i never see her clearly... its more like a shadow but... not a shadow. lol
its hard to explain.
anyway....if u find anythin out let me know.
Il keep u updated if she has anythin to say :D

Dead Girls Best Mate:
Well ''Dead Girl Name'' certainly had long dark hair. But I can't explain the fish thing! She in the middle of a law conversion course! She died mysteriously - as far as I am aware no-one knows how she died, not even her mother. Both an autopsy and postmortem were inconclusive. In our first year at uni her father died from a heart attack and this made her especially close to her mother (''Dead Girl Name'' was an only child). Her greatest fear, above all others, was die before her mother did because then her mother would be alone in the world!

***********************************************

That's all we have so far.
Would be good if we found out she did work on a fish stall etc...

Sorry for the spelling and text talk any of these people may have used lol.
