View Full Version : 4.53 Final drive
Which gearbox am I likely to find a 4.53 crown wheel & pinion? I've seen them for sale before new but am i likely to be able to get hold of one from another Vauxhall?
Cheers

Prob stuff like Mk2 1.3 Cavs and Mk2 Astra vans
I thought it might be older stuff, I read somewhere about Combo's but I wasn't sure how reliable that information was.

Could be true, prob petrol engined ones. What you want it for, only really of use on a rally car. I have a SCCR box and I think I will be running a 4.18:1 FD
Would be using it for my Nova in sprints/hillclimb's so really need the acceleration as the track's are quite small with alot more corners than straights.
astra mk1 1.2S with a 4speed box. (the older OHV engine) for sure, i have it in my astra.
others i need to check.
OK thanks for that :thumb:
I have tried to have a look for a list of final drive ratio's online from various cars and the only one i've found is Stuart's site but obviously it only lists certain cars which do not have it.
you can get them new from vauxhall about £300. I think your right about combo's etc they will be geared for pulling not top end.
had a quick look:
corsa's B 12NZ, C12NZ, X12SZ, C14NZ
astra mk1 1.0S, 1.0N, 1.2N.
kadett E 13N, 13NB, 13S, 14NV, C14NZ
Cheers for that list.
I thought you might be able to get them from Vauxhall, if needs must then it could be an idea if I get desperate :(
