i don't think its very safe welding the outside of a front damper with oil/gas inside..............

mk1-3 astras have removeable damper inserts, so its do-able.

Lots of retro Fords have these as coilovers are hard to come by for them. Cortina's and the like...

im sure ive seen billy inserts for about £40. so you get a pair of billy coilovers for £200. proper funking bargain imo

it hard to rebuild rear shocks? wouldnt mind doing my rears like this, have some spax ones spare if the seals are replaceable it could be easily done.

my boss just done this for a bloke, on fiat X1/9 rear struts with removable inserts.

worked out really well

Hockley have been doing proper ones for years, they are for Bilstein inserts and are £91 each plus the vat
