Coilovers on front, no springs in back, my friend is making me some springs that make it sit roughly the same height as with none.

Theres about 2mm gap on the front with 50's but im fitting 45's
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh57/LEWI007/Nova/HPIM1404.jpg

i could lower the front another 3-4 inches on the coilovers, but i already had to bend the downpipe to stop it scraping

One day i will be rocking turbo rims, and will try and get a better stance with them.

When ive drove it it feels like a piece of sh!t, i go over bumps and lift up off the seat and stuff, but hey its worth it to have the nice look of loweredness lol

burgo
19-02-10, 08:36 PM
what on earth is it sitting on at the back. should go much lower than that

craig green
19-02-10, 08:37 PM

Yeah but 120mm from stad poverty height isnt as low as someone that has gone down 100mm on a GTE.

LEWI007

I dont know mate, wierd cos i was also thinking the same, one side appears to be about an inch lower than the other, i think theres a bumpstop or something but i really dont know, ive been meaning to take it to bits and have a look but havent got round to it yet.

handbrake cable guide touched the chassis legs sometimes. just needs a good whack where they touch ;)

Yeah but 120mm from stad poverty height isnt as low as someone that has gone down 100mm on a GTE.surely its the same as im sure the gte/gsi's were only 20mm lower. or was it 25mm.

Turreted back wheel houses, with the tops welded on a bit too high means, you can go this low on only half way down the shock threads.

That's fcuking low lol

My cars are only low because of the bumpers i use, nothing in comparison to the really low cars on here. My mission within the next few months though is to get my bm cab on its ass with the standard kit.

I think the height is more about how far the wheels are under the arches than how close the bumpers are to the floor.

You need both or it look's daft. Chassis on the deck usually means the arch gaps are non existant anyway lol.

I have a VW Bora tdi Daily driver which is lowered -120mm on 18's, thats very low, to low infact haha

Mate used to have one the same, on 18" then 19"s lol

Let's guess, S8/TT/RS6 reps and FK's?

They do suit being on the deck like, everythings tucked up out of the way too. Only the plastic sh!t guards to catch. lol

CavalierTurbo
19-02-10, 11:46 PM
RS4 Reps, Old style ones like the TT ones. Set of JOM Coilovers, basically the same as FK, yeah they do look good decked. but i need the adjustable drop links as under harsh cornering the driveshaft has been known to hit the anti-roll bar :( ...Not Good

burgo
20-02-10, 12:02 AM
thing is with pepe the front bumper is still along way off the floor. which would surgest it only looks low because of the size of the wheels

Yep. Which is one reason why I don't like hatchbacks, as the rear arch comes down lower than the front, giving the illusion that the back is lowered but not the front. Kinda like reverse Peugeots, when people lower the front but can't do the torsion bar lol

Anyway. 40mm:

Mines -40 all round too and the back sits higher than the front.

Jack
20-02-10, 12:30 AM
The tyres fill the arches and make it look lower than it is. Admittedly its full of junk in that pic so a little weighed down, but the springs I have on now sit around the same level, and are also 40mm.

Lewi, yours for £350 lol

LEWI007
20-02-10, 12:30 AM
I also dont like how the rear arch is lower than the front one..

edit:

lol 350, id pay alot of money for it but not that much, unless it was harder than it is to find.

where did you get it/can i get one ?

edit agan:

Im sure they cost around 350 when they came out early 90s ?

burgo
20-02-10, 12:31 AM
Its the tyres filling the wheelaches up man, makin it look lower.its blatantly not. you seem to forget how many saloons ive had. i know how low that looks and its not 40mm. it may have 40mm springs but its got alot of weight in the boot if it has

LOL @ 90s :p

You can get them on here, ebay, all sorts. Mine didn't cost me anywhere near that, but at the moment I don't want to sell either of them (yeas, I have two :d) so the price is higher. Plus I have HIDs and BMW lamps in mine rather than the uber-crap Cibie HCRs and H4 halogens you get in most of them.

Burgo, springs in that pic were PVD 40mm ones, same as here (no engine in front):

Currently got 60mm ones on (rear, fronts are coilovers) which sit around the same height as the first pic:

I bought my second one exactly 3 months ago on Sunday lol It was more expensive than the first one I bought mind, but thats what you get with ebayers going mental at the last minute.

Won't sell either as one suits the GTE/SR bumper and the other an early saloon/GSi bumper. Best of both worlds :)

Johnny A, are they the 15" steels from a new zafira that look like alloys when the wheeltrims are clipped on?

cheers ben, it will go about 30mm lower but the sill would be about 1 inch from the floor then

At the moment the rear coilovers were designed for the front of a Nova/Corsa so the springs are too high poundage, what happens is when you drop the car to the floor the spring is loose and not doing anything. As soon as the springs hit the top and bottom cups the car stops - this is the height you see in the pics.

I don't know about the Zafira, mine were from an Astra-H. But yeah they are the steelies which you clip covers on to that look like alloys.

Loads of room till there is a small stone in the road lol

My exhaust runs directly below the propshaft, with the height of the new tunnel the exhaust is still slightly higher than the floorpan :d

Is there no room to move your exhaust upwards??

Lucky you, and no, Gareth made it as tight to the gear shifter box thing as poss.
But the boxes hang quite low, ground it out in a mutil story car park..lol

That shifter box is a huge lump in the standard tunnel, thats half the reason I fitted a cav shifter in SEF back in the day.

I think you should DO IT

The tyres on the back are about 1/2mm from hitting the very top of the inner arches!!

pointless tubbing it, the back is at max lowering but the sill is about 3.4 inches from the floor. It won't go over speedbumps so it needs to be raised a little anyways.

Uneven ground (bulging in the middle where the sill is) causing a bit of an illusion?? Either way its LOW

I did wonder if it was the ground...

remember low is distance of car to ground, not how far the wheels go into the arches!
