Hi has anyone fitted an X22XE engine to their Nova? Any better than the C20XE? Can you combine the two to make a C22XE or C22LET? Just with it being a 2.2 I thought it would have better torque than the C20XE?

Could be done depending on what motor you get it out of, in an omega it drives the rear wheels so manifolds etc. are all different!
Is it worth it really for the extra 10 bhp or so you'd get?

2.2 16v ecos are good engines and complete different from 2.0 eco's.....

Inlet is on the front side of the head etc.

Would be a good engine in a nova, dont think its been done though.

Thats the z22se your thinking about, there are earlier ones based on the normal 2.0 16v ecotec. Hence X22xe! Found in Omega's and Sintras. Wasnt sure on this myself until i seen one, The Z22se is found in astra's and vectra's :thumb:

There was a 2.2 16v block from Fronteras that people use for bonkers spec XE bottom ends, no idea if its the same as whats in question, but the Sintra was a re-branded Pontiac gran-sport from the US.
Increasing the capacity that bit doesnt really add massively to the power output though.

Yip thats right! Not massive power up from the 2.0 but was just to give the bigger motors a bit more ooomph.

sounds like someone is trying to figure out the vauxhall equivilent of the ford ZVH conversion which can be bloody epic for power:)

z22's are same sort of price, lots newer, smoother with similar power and ought to be a good deal lighter (only big block thats alloy bottom end) But most probably no one has any idea how youll get on with fitting into a nova. So c20xe it would be, for me.
