Just been and picked up my rebuilt xe engine tonight, its took a while and some ££££ but it will be worth it in the end i hope
Heres a couple of pics from tonight and i will add some more when its going back in at the weekend

Who rebuilt it if you dont mind me asking? What did they replace and what did they do to it? How much if you dont mind me asking? or to scary to think about lol

Yes it will be run in properly mate .
A lad off here called nova rich has built it for me but i supplied all the parts which were bought from autovaux heres a list of what its had that i can remember.
New clutch kit
New bonded sump gasket
Full gasket kit
Full seal kit (including all oil seals and valve stem seals etc)
New bearings (All)
New flywheel bolts
New Main Big end bolts
New mahle Piston rings
Early xe forged pistons (already had from my old engine)
Block has been acid dipped and honed etc
Block painted with dipstick tube etc
Crank polished
New waterpump
Oil Pump Overhauled
Full timing kit and pulleys etc
New exhaust manifold studs and nuts
New hydraulic lifters
Breather mod done on rocker cover
Courtney cool stat
The total cost was approx £900 but this engine has been built to last and i didnt want to go down the LET route with the car so figured a good xe would be fine
Lets see how many people still want it doing lol

OMG!! A non-rattle can rebuild.
It is ripe for painting now though.
I'd hazard a guess that a standard rebuild with new pistons, bearing shells & relevant sundries would be £900ish, more if you drove it in, drove it out.

LOL I was too slow typing, good guess however!
Yes craig standard rebuild to standard spec, just wanted a reliable one the didnt leak at every joint lol
It had a few little issues with rounded bolts/snapped bolts that had to be sorted at his local engineers but its fixed now
I took the engine out and will be putting it back in also.

Cool, I had a 16SE rebuilt a few years back before it was turbo'd & Edd on here had one & an XE built aswell, all from the same eng builder. They were all approx £1k as I mentioned above, the exception being the XE that Edd fitted himself.
Dunno if you need telling, but dont pussy-foot around running it in for 1000 miles.

Yes trust me wardy its definatly worth the cash, no skimping was allowed, the rebuild price was £200 for those of you asking but a series of snapped bolts and buggered threads ment extra work was involed ergo extra coinage. heres a taster of whats gone into your engine matey....
All parts degreased, cleaned and inspected (valves polished to a mirror shine after testing for straightness)

Valves lapped in by hand (best way) stems lubbed with molyslip

Done, seals tested with white spirit or thinners

Block degrased cleaned painted and all torqued up with new parts

Head on, lifters, cam lobes and shaft bearings caked in kent cam lube (ideal for rebuilds as its like treacle and provides lubrication until the oil reaches the top end)

Top stuff. makes a change for it not to be a miley old XE about to be absolutely drilled in a new home. But a freshly built one to keep for a few years.

Im looking forward to saturday now a full day getting it in and ready for its run in !

Lmao, glad your happy with it pal, i promised myself i was going to run mine in properly but couldnt help myself, like i say you can tell the difference between a molly-coddled XE and one thats been "used" as the used one is much revvier and loose.

haven't had chance today but will deffinatly have a look over the weekend for you,i know i have deffinatly got one handle it's still on the door on the back garden.

think it is the passenger side one on the back garden,think i have the surround in the shed but think it has a crack in it.
if you have one without surround thats cush mate,i still have a spare surround anyway.let me know ,i will be doing engine on saturday feel free to call round mate i know its a bit of a trek like,if not catch you next sunday

Yea i seen you mate ive got the red nova lol just put XE in that too i followed you earlier as well up past jet at monk bretton silver corsas just a daily hack lol.
