Cool. I used to be really into ice hockey when the Manchester Storm were in business (non of this Phoenix crap). One of my regrets was that I never saw a bench clearance, the Nottingham v Sheffield one on youtube is pretty good. The Sheffield v Manchester new years eve fight was pretty good too.

Was luck enough to watch a New York derby in Madison Square Garden when I was on my honeymoon. 5 or 6 from each team thrown out for fighting, and the skill/intensity wehen they weren't scrapping was awesome.

I've seen a bench clearance at Telford and also fighting in the dressing room after a player left the ice after the player that got sent off, sunday night hockey used to be more like wrestlemania

Anyways, I thought fights were encouraged? To try to make ice hockey more interesting to watch or prove they're more masculine (as lets face it, hockey is a girl's game). Note the referees do SFA to intervene until the guys fall over, and even then they're probably only going to help them get back up so they can carry on the tekken noob fight

I've seen refs get a knuckle butty standing between two angry canadians trying to lamp each other, very funny but I guess thats why they stand back.

Regardless of the fisticuffs, its a really entertaining sport to be honest. It was played to a decent level in this country until the bubble burst and the salary cap came in, you could get into a superleague game for £6 if you said you were a student. It was a really good night out. It's about £15 for an adult ticket now and the standard is very poor in my opinion and not worth the money. I'd rather go and watch a decent footy match for that money (Rochdale :d )
