I can get a new cam for a 1300 for £60 to go in my 1.2, sshould I buy or keep hunting for a used item?

If you do buy a used cam, make sure it comes from someone you can trust, i bought a camshaft once for my gsi engine and it lost power

thats a worry i have, and as for minimal gain if you look at it in percentage terms, my engine is near as dammit 60bhp at the moment. if it frees up 3bhp, thats a 5% increase, there and there abouts :d

Is that a new GM cam? The 1.3 cam has more lift than the 1.2's, should open it up nicely.

If I got a used one, I would want it in the donor housing & fit that.

1.3 cam in 1200 engine = 5-10% gain. Velos found 5bhp on a tired engine lol

You only need to read the specs in the Haynes to see the 1200 needs the 1300's cam profiles.

or drive a std 1200 for 5 years to know it really loses interest in life much above half revs

Thats why you force it to 7000+...teach it a lesson for letting you down lower down.

If Velos found a 5 bhp increase, thats nearly 10%. 1300 cams can be found cheaper on ebay mate keep watching out for them. Usually about £30 I've seen them at. Worth it at that price.
