View Full Version : Colour coding taken to extremes
New welder was a bit battered and rust on the casing so I thought I'd give it a lick of paint, and what better colour than...

Mustard yellow! lol
It is a genuine snap on welder, I wasn't cheating, and yes that is the red showing through on the sides :( Halfords rattle cans are crap! It's not perfect as I didn't spend hours filler priming up the wire wheel marks etc, but after all it's a welder, I don't expect it to stay looking like that for too long tbh! lol
Looks good man. Just give it a quick pass with another coat IMO. Now make a trolley for it lol.
I don't mind Halfords rattle cans, I use my left over Nova Magma red? to protect any bare metal things I knock up until I CBA to paint them properly. lol
my wee snap on welder died
Mine was whack lol. Good enough to affix a new front panel to my SR though. :)
Then sold for a profit with a fkd swan neck. Gotta love the scene tax on that name. lol

Might grab another one at some point as I totally forgot the inside of the case shows at the back and it's still red, could run another pass over that centre bit with that then and put something over my snap on vinyls for the overspray lol
Was gonna knock up a trolley in solid works and then see whats what with getting some steel angle for welding practice before I let myself loose on the nova :thumb:
Good work, i was going to paint my toolbox but i could never find a time i was bored enough to actually take it apart lol
Halfords off the shelf rattle cans are complete toss, only good one is the satin black. Their in house mixed cans are MUCH better though.

I'll have to remember that next time I get some, I was hoping it'd be better for doing odd bits of interior after welding etc Will they make up off the shelf colours if you insist or do they just refuse and point you to the shelves?
craig green

I've found its the nozzles that are toss on the Halfrauds rattle cans, witch nozzle to a good one & I get decent results.
Mustard Yellow FTW just now though. I'm right into it.
lol lol Looks like something Id do that!
Nick.

I'll give that a go if they refuse to make one up for me :thumb: And it's all about the mustard yellow :d

Funny you should say that really because I did mention to craig (euro sbd) when I was buying this new shell, that I'd had a flame red mk2 with carbon bits that yours was part of the inspiration for, and now just after you got a mustard yellow SR I did the same lol
Unfortunately the painting skills are not quite the same, I just don't have the patience for preparing a welder to be perfectly flat/shiny when it's gonna get beaten up again more than likely!
