Airbag Squib????

I read on wiki that its the ignition module for the airbag? Is this correct?,

If so, can I replace it without replacing the airbag?

The cars a Fiat Multipla.

IIRC it's the contact ring to provide the power to the electronics in the airbag, removes the need for wiring/twistie cable that has been used for say horn wiring in the past.

You can change them on Vauxhalls. I would think you could do it seperately as they can wear out but I know little about Fiat.
